The 2nd Meet

Post by DEL »

Yes ill6 it happened!

Herr Schatten flew in from Germany for 1Euro (+ £15 Airport Tax). Ex_Mosquito travelled in from South Wales. The Old Mills made a Special Guest Star Appearance. Masamune got chucked out of Trocadero by ALL the security guards (because he asked to move a chair once  :?: ). ARC turned up late and left a score on Ketsui, so that we knew he'd been there (we'd moved on to the Trocadero by then).

elbarto was surprisingly AWOL and we had lunch in Chinatown, as planned.

Games played on the day were: Cyvern, Shinobi, Prehistoric Isle, Mush, Gemini Wing, Ketsui, Sengeki Striker, SF II & Raiden III.

Photos were also taken and will appear at some point.

ill6 - Bob has assured me that you can take Ketsui out anytime (except next week, as he's spending a week in Ireland). I've already taken my Cyvern and SS out.
I'll put another board or two in the arcade in January.

Many Thanks to the Attendees! & ill6 for the Ketsui loan! :D

Sounds good DEL; looks like everyone had a lot of fun!

I might have to collect Ketsui this week if possible so that its home in time for xmas. I don't mind swapping it for another board if you want?

Meet

Post by DEL »

LUNardei - Apologies for this late reply, I spent Christmas in Cyprus. There weren't any big runs on the day, although I would have enjoyed going head to head with Icarus on Cyvern. Plus it would have been nice to watch Ex_Mosquito push round some of the titles he's dominated in the past. Instead we played games that are fairly new to us, like Ketsui and Raiden III.

ill6 - Pls turn up at Casino on any friday evening or Sat to pick up your Ketsui PCB. I've told Bob to expect you. I figure we should put something new into the Ketsui cab and the Cyvern cab. (The Sengeki Striker cab monitor is mashed).

Sorry to hear that you were ill elbarto. I'll be passing by Raven this week, so I'll text you.

Until the next meet then, DEL ^_^

Easter is the best time for me next, as I'll be finished with the second semester of the first year of my course, and can spend it doing whatever I so desire. If you decide to plan a meet around that time, then I'll definitely be able to make it. Maybe bring down a couple of my own PCBs for the fun and games. ^_-

Hope everyone had fun at the meet. Would have loved to have been there, but had to work ;P Hope everyone had a good Christmas as well. ^_^

Ex_Mosquito - Your Pic doesn't 'Show Picture' on my screen. Can you re-post it in a different format?

I have more photos & will post them soon'ish.

The Old Mills

Post by DEL »

ill6 - Nice One! IBARA is a very good choice. Give me Raizing any day over the rest (except GREV of course).

As a reward, here's an excessively large photo of Mills breathing fire.

IBARA

Post by DEL »

Its not hard if you're used to Raizing-type dodging. It requires different joystick movements to that of Cave games. ie. More tapping of the joystick than full-on sweeps (especially on Bosses). Once you get used to the economy of movement required by Raizing shooters, you'll do just fine.
I've had the PS2 port for 2 days now and have made surprising progress. I'm sure its all that recent A.P.Batrider Advance Course practice I've had recently.

Of course I'd be happy to coach you if & when you decide to install the board in Casino. Playing it on a 26" cab would be Great!
You should play it to death at home first though  !

I have no problems with Bakraid or Batrider (though Bakraid is the one I am better at)...

I will think about installing it once I have figured out whether to keep it or not!

This is UBN
20+ Loops of Flying Shark
7+ Loops of Fire Shark
etc...
We've known each other for 19 years.
Like Ex_Mosquito he's a highly skilled all-rounder. Even turning his hand to Ms Pacman and scoring 430,000.

Picture taken at Casino last thursday.

My arcade Shoot'em up mate UBN is through the first Battle round of the UK Voice 2016.
I missed his Audition episode, so you could have knocked me down with a feather when I saw him on TV last night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvpedMV_vBE

20+ Loops of Flying Shark
7+ Loops of Fire Shark
etc...
We've known each other for 28 years.

I first met him in 1988 at the end of his 11+ hour credit of Flying Shark in Finsbury Park arcade.
The photo of him in the previous post was taken by me almost exactly 10 years ago in Casino arcade.

Damn, didn't know he had some hidden vocal talent. I hope something behind the scenes works out for him regardless if he makes it to the final or not.

Yeah, he's always been a humble guy. Only told me he was still MCing that day in Goodge St. He neglected to mention that he can also sing.
He should avoid the falsettos though. I never like men doing that. Leave it for the birds and the birds.
Let's hope he does get something out of the Voice Show.
