Brewcade opening in SF on Dec 10th

Post by Dave_K. »

It seems there is a new arcade+bar opening in San Francisco. The list of games is pretty long, with a few good shmups including DoDonPachi. Not sure why they lumped 1945K III (korean remix) with the other 19xx series...but pretty rare to find nowadays.

excellent, I was wondering when the bay area would get a bonafide brewcade. Seems like a nobrainer but I'm guessing the super high rent and underlying property values made it hard to swing (or maybe it was a permitting problem). I'll definitely be visiting though. Ready to show the world our "massive" 2P DDP clear, Dave?

There's also a place in Haight-Ashbury called "Free Gold Watch" that has a nice Pinball selection, and some arcade games. I ran into NOAH there last time I dropped in, actually. They recently put in some lcd MAMEcab abomination though, so I lost respect for them there haha. Still, a great pinball selection.

Speaking of which, there appears to be a gaming bar opening up here in downtown SJ, but I think they're more LAN party oriented than arcade.

Hey guys just got back from opening day. I'll post pics and a review sometime this week.
In the 1945 plus cab was 1943: The Battle of Midway?

There was also an R-Type II cab that was pretty neat, despite the nubins Galaga style stick.

The few cabs I played/saw were:

Track and Field
Altered Beast
A mario...thing? (so much lag)
A Neo Geo running Bubble Bobble.
Track & Field
Arch Rivals
Packman
and Centipede?
Gorf
Another Neo Geo with Metal Slug I believe? I didn't have a chance to check that out.

There were some more cabs I didn't check out. No DoDonPachi yet, but pretty decent line-up.

I thought it was cute that there were drink holders for your beer near each cab.

Thanks for the report! Looking forward to checking this place out

Does that mean no sign of Donpachi as well? Hopefully those games are up and running soon!

Hi guys.

One of the Brewcade PR representatives asked if I could help out with the game list.
I didn't go to opening day Wednesday so I don't know if any of these games changed or were not there.
Some help and input would be great.

"The carefully curated list of 24 vintage gaming machines will offer the following

games (and up to 50+ games to play as some machines are multi-player.) For now,

partial list of games include (full list provided upon request:)"

Airplane shooters Raiden:

1941, 1942, 1943, 1945K III

o Area 51 Gun Game

o Bezerk

o Donkey Kong

o Donkey Kong Jr.

o Double Dragon

o Galaxian

o Gauntlet

o Jungle Hunt

o King of Fighters Series

o Mario Bros.

o Marvel vs. St. Fighter

o Ms Pacman

o Pacman

o Robatron 2084

o Simpsons

o Space Invaders

o Space Invaders Part 2

o Stargate

o Street Fighter 2

o Super Street Fighter & Alpha

series

o Teenage Mutant Ninja

Turtles

o Tetris

o Xevious

I'm definitely going to mention the obvious ones like the Airplane shooters Raiden
and the lack of R-Type II.

I visited here the other week. Overall impression was pretty negative. a LOT of emulated stuff, some of it looking quite bad, and clearly unoptimized as regards input lag, screen tearing, etc. The one shmup pcb was R-Type II, but it was rendered nigh unplayable with the mysteriously tiny cocktail joystick they had.

I want to like this place but its a far cry from Ground Kontrol in Portland, so far. And all the MAME cab stuff really just further defiles these games in both the memories of older players and the impressions of newer ones. Since drunk people won't care either way, it would be nice if they had someone curating the game list who knew what was what.

Please tell the PR person this is not something they want to advertise.
