Magfest 13 (Jan 23rd-26th, 2015)

We're 2 and half months away from the next Magfest. Who is planning to attend? Minzoku and I will definitely be there. What PCBs does everyone have available?

Again, I have the following PCBs:

Pink Sweets
Strikers 1945 Part II

Along with a bunch of MVS carts:
Pulstar
Blazing Star
Operation Ragnarok/Zed Blade

Also, I was asked last year to have Senko No Ronde and Senko No Ronde DUO available for 360. So I'll bring both of those.

I have all 3 Parodius games, Brought Gokujou last year and it was pretty good.

I've been working REALLY hard on getting Gradius IV up and running before Magfest, We're getting close. Hopefully I can pull it off.

I would really rather not bring my Life Force (because rare and fragile) but if there is legitimate interest in playing it a lot I would.

I think ESPrade and Elevator Action Returns are still the only boards I have that aren't already covered between everyone else.

If YB's cabs are coming again, should the Vewlixes be set up the way they were for 8.5 (one fighter [probably Xrd], one shmup), or should it be all shmups again?

I know I'm moving to Korea for a couple years with a report date of Feb 10th. MagFest is later in january so I'll know my backtrack dates and let you guys know once I have more pinpointed dates.

And just to remind everyone, the dates for MAG this year are Friday-Monday. So if you're leaving Sunday, make a note so I do not try to plan to run your board then.

Majors shooters: 1944, Blazing Star, Ikaruga, Last Resort, Mars Matrix, Raiden Fighters, Sexy Parodius, Side Arms, Strikers 1945 Plus , Thunder Force, Viper Phase 1. I'm not planning on bringing any except for filler in case I end up with an empty cabs.

I'm working to get more 1p panels for the cabs designated for shooter.

I'll start getting a spreadsheet going based on ppls post to this thread.

Andy cannot make MAG this year, so it'll just be Greg(awaiting his "backtrack" dates?) and my candy, so about 20 cabs. When we get a more solid boards list, I can post a tentative cab schedule. Right now I have:

Yes Boss can't make MAG this year, he's to busy defending democracy in foreign lands. So it's just my candy that I can bring this year unless I make magic happen with StarCreator. I can squeeze another Blast in, so we should have 16 cabs at least. There maybe some attendees that bring machines for the cab-for-a-badge program, but I'd rather plan for what I know.

This is a tent idea...we can expand more with boards for AM and PM. No Viewlixs this year, so no 360's running-in-a-cab. The other cabs I have are set for fighters*. I plan to have Ikaruga running all weekend but since it's a JVS only and 3-button, I'm limited on what I can run.

I assume most foks are dipping out Sunday night, so I do not want to plan for their boards on Monday unless they tell me they are going to be present.

Chatting Parodius is not actually an arcade game, it's SNES/PS1 only. So don't plan on that. Plan on a 2nd day of Gokujou or Sexy instead. Alternatively I could bring Life Force if there's interest in it. Still working on Gradius IV, I'll know if it can make it or not soon.

Unless you feel another game you have running is better suited to be played. You know I'm not up on the latest trends in shooters. The schedule will evolve, so keep reading the thread. Starcreator has ESPRade, but you caught that already.

I -might- be able to swing getting the Egret 2 there if we need it, but it'll take some coordination. It's as big if right now though.

I feel it's too much trouble with your basement and distance. But I will be unloading Thursday afternoon and have a free truck for the rest of the weekend. It's up to you...I'd have to return the E2 on Monday.

I'll add this to the master list. I've got RF1 and Sky Shark myself(but I'm supposed to be selling Shark to Ethan at MAGFest). Maybe we could work 1943/Shark/Cobra in on Friday, sort of have a chronological progression on STGs. We can also do half days, run a board in the morning and swap it out in the afternoon to get more variety. The only issue is some attendees will not be made aware and be disappoint if they come back to credit feed a game later on, after we swapped it out.


I do need to know who is gonna be at the 'fest on Monday so I do not plan to run a board that is not available. It being Fri-Mon this year, I think a lot of folks will dip out on Sunday. I'll be setting up Thursday, so if folks are there, we can get boards installed and ready to run for Friday.

That board supports 24khz? We can make sure we get the best visual by switching over the Nanao MS9 to mid rez. Most of the Blast's original CRT's took a shit and have been replaced my MS9's. I hope you fix it up in time for Mag, I'd love to get some play time on it.

Yeah when it works it supports 24k. The deal with playing it on an MS9 is that because it does some funky things to it's video output the thick scanlines of the 15khz mode on the MS9s actually work against you and the game looks AWFUL in 15k. In 24k though on the same monitor it's godlike.

Yeah I just ordered a replacement part and I'm going to be hoping it lives soon.

Two weeks left! Anyone have issue with the spreadsheet? Or if it would be better to run XXXX game at a certain time? I will have Ikaruga running in a Naomi Uni like last year.

I can PM folks with what boards I have them down for to confirm next week. I do have "?" for Monday since I figure most folks will dip on Sunday.

Also, I may have to drop the Madonna due to truck space constrictions. If so, I will run those boards on the Astro 2. This means we loose the MVS running Strikers 1945+, Pulstar, Zed Blade and Blazing Star. I just want to throw that out there so no one gets aggro.

The fighters I'm running, in case ppl want to know will be:

I think if we're sticking purely to PCBs we're good. I'd still like a 360-in-a-cab if at all possible since there are a lot of newer games we don't have PCBs for, but your cabs, your call. I could probably get by if a 360 replaced Ikaruga at one point but I would have to think about which games would work with three buttons.

I'm seeing people in other forums asking for Ketsui, which would work fine on a 3 button panel.

Its a favorite of mine too. I was really hoping to get it working. If I get it up at the last minute I might just bring it anyway, but don't hold your breath I have a lot of stuff on my plate over the next 2 weeks.
