Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
I should be able to make it in October, just have to make sure it doesn't fall on a workday. I'm thinking of bringing my MSX2+ this time around with Knightmare and Nemesis 3.

Count me in this time. I was sad to miss the last one!

Sweet, looking forward to this as usual!
If the date matches up, I'll be glad to bring homemade wine cake and brownies by my fiancée like last time. Or some other treats.

Count me in, too! I have no plans for the October weekends. Preferred dates...I'll have to think about this.

Thanks for the responses so far; I'm thinking of the latter half of Oct to give me some time for setup,
probably Oct 18 or 25.

Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
Cool, I also happen to have MSX RGB cables as well since the XSYNC-1 uses the same pinout apparently. Bring it on!ApolloBoy wrote:I should be able to make it in October, just have to make sure it doesn't fall on a workday. Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
Hey Al, did you ever get your NESRGB installed? If not I can bring mine.
Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
Cool, I'm fine with either date.alamone wrote:Thanks for the responses so far; I'm thinking of the latter half of Oct to give me some time for setup,

Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
I would prefer the 25th to toss in my preference
Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
NESRGB is still to be installed... I've been mangling a lot of motherboards in the process but I think I have everything down so next install should be smooth, haha.
If you want to bring yours, feel free.
I'm also leaning towards Oct 25 to give some extra time for setup. If there's no objections I'll probably solidify the date for then.

NESRGB would be Sahweeet.
Count me in, I love these meets. I'd be willing to bring my new X68000 PRO with the downscan converter for a TV if there's interest. Al, do you have any 15khz RGB monitors with a VGA style (HD DB-15) connector input?

Well you know me, I have monitors all over the place, although most of them will probably chop off the picture if hooked up directly.segasonicfan wrote:NESRGB would be Sahweeet.

I also have a DVDO VP50 that might work with the X68000 (have not tried it since I sold my X68000 since then).
If your downscan converter outputs to 15KHz over VGA cable, I have a converter cable for my 15KHz PVM.
Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet - Oct 25, 2014 (Sat)
25th sounds good, I'll try to get the day off then.
Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet - Oct 25, 2014 (Sat)
I just finished installing the NESRGB into an AV famicom, been playing it on and off and it looks good so far, I'll be burn testing it overnight.
I adjusted the internal resistors for better balance with the expansion audio. I have an Everdrive N8 and a Powerpak (with converter + expansion audio).
I just updated the RSVP list in the OP, still room for a few more guests.

Re: SF Bay / Norcal Meet Autumn 2014
sweet, yeah thats all I need. The converter will do the rest. My the X68000 PRO model is HUGE though, so if someone was able to bring a Compact or other model I can bring floppies + downscan converter +2 player controllers and such.If your downscan converter outputs to 15KHz over VGA cable, I have a converter cable for my 15KHz PVM.

No, bring your machine! I've never seen a Pro in real life before. I'll throw my new and improved CRT test monitor (with native JRGB-15 pinout!) in the car for emergencies, in case nothing there will sync to it.
As for me I'm thinking of bringing a ~mystery platform~. It has one real shmup, which will of course be installed on it's hard drive.

haha, okay...I might enlist you to help me carry it back to the car though Yeah, they look pretty cool. Alamone, you'll need an entire desk available for it though! lol. And you don't need to worry about sync issues. I have a custom circuit I built that fixes all that See here:papa_november wrote:No, bring your machine! I've never seen a Pro in real life before. (it cleans the sync line too).
Could you bring the PC98? I'd love to play some more Rude Breaker. That was a very cool system, just needs a controller!

Regarding that PC98 controller... looks like one approach is to hack a 10 key into a gamepad,
essentially so that the gamepad acts as a keyboard... I'm guessing that keyboards can be
hotswapped without problem on the PC98?
Idea using a pc-engine pad:

Tenkey on YAJ:

I don't have a PC98 but this looks like it might be a fun project.

Sweet, I'm down! Looking at Al's game list to avoid duplicates, I can bring FixEight and/or Dragon Blaze if anyone wants to play them. My buddy TeddyKGB who you met at the last meet may show up for several hours like last time also. We're both grumpy old men so we typically don't stay up late LOL.

I don't have Demon Front - I put a link to my game list in the OP if you want to check.
Also, regarding the MVS N-in-1 carts, it looks like they don't work correctly with uni-bios,
so I may try a regular bios chip to see if that fixes the crashing problems.

Unfortunately, that hack only really works for the laptops. It also might not work in all games. I still can't find a satisfactory solution for the 9821 systems short of disabling onboard audio and installing an 86 board.alamone wrote:Regarding that PC98 controller... looks like one approach is to hack a 10 key into a gamepad,

I have a friend who's getting a 9801 with an 86 board going, I'll see if he's able to attend.
