playing in a cab is wayyy different. My first run, I got a new high score! Totally eliminates the lag from mame that I'm used to.

that's too far!

Also, I can beat your high score by like the start of Stage 4, YOU BETTA BE PRACTICIN (chaining those max bomb bonuses are really what get your counter up to ridiculous levels, getting to the st3 boss without bombing really helps, getting to that st4 bomb bonus is tough though). You should totally learn to 1-All that sucker cause it's awesome and being able to show off 1CCs on your PCB to new people is always good for ego (I assume, lol).

I'm trying to loop the game, but when I get in the mindset of not bombing I always seem to lose a whole bunch of lives at the end of stage 4. :( All dem bombs gone to waste.

So hey, how do you guys feels about Sunday Feb 24th for our Ginga Force shmupmeet? I don't think I'll physically have the game yet the previous weekend. I could also start things earlier, to compensate for it preceding a work day (though I easily expect to personally be playing past midnight and others would be welcome to stay and do the same).

I'm in the same boat, sadly. The best I'd have is a TV and a vert monitor setup, and not in a really ideal gamer setup either.

Well, since nobody strongly objects to the 24th, let's make it official.

People are welcome any time after 10am. Expect to play Ginga Force! Though as usual there will be several stations set up.

And I'm not going to spoiler it but assuming my preparations pan out it will be the most epic meetup yet. If you don't come out you will be wishing you had.

I'd try and sort my way out for this, but it's the day after my birthday, so probably wont be in any state to go anywhere, let alone a long drive in a car.

Have fun guys!

So I live in Waterloo, and I haven't had a chance to play this since I moved here. Should probably have checked back here in the last 5+ years...

To be perfectly honest, I'd much rather have the JP version of Progear handy. US version seems to throw off my rhythm even if the difficulty is upped to match JP standards (rank differences are still noticable). I'm seriously looking forward to this meet because of goddamn Ginga Force.

I wonder how much of the difficulty change people notice is a psychological thing due to most people expecting major differences (as some arcade games have). I swear I've not seen any major boss health/pattern/enemy appearance changes aside from rank-related ones (get your counter really high before the St2 midboss ends, and the larger planes after fire much wider/different shots in both versions), and I keep switching between each version every credit in MAME just for kicks. By no means is the US version really that different compared to say how they changed bomb refills in Donpachi between JP and US versions.

Of course, my best so far is 2-1, so it's possible there's some more changes in the loop you're referring to specifically, but when Skykid complained he and Spadgy I think noticed version differences I saw they only had 1-Alls posted, so I think they were talking pre-loop. Still skeptical about this, would be interesting to see a side-by-side replay of both versions, wonder if there's some way to play both at the same time using a single input?

Wait, you actually managed to get Futari hooked up? As in, you ordered one of those adapters already and your 360's actually working on a cab?

Fuck that Ginga Force shit, I'll be too busy with that and Progear (it'll make it worth lugging those fucking cunts down three flights of stairs). :D

I have a second X360 (NA), but only one harddrive/VGA cable. Soooo it would still be better if someone else could bring one. Though in theory it will be competing with Batrider for cab space. :D
BareknuckleRoo wrote:As in, you ordered one of those adapters already and your 360's actually working on a cab?
Audio and video on the cab, but I don't yet have the controller adapter. So it's slightly ghetto in that you would be playing with a X360 controller in front of an arcade machine. Will be fixed ASAP! But not in time for the meet.

Progear and Futari are serious distractions, but don't dismiss Ginga Force. It's really really awesome!
