Dallas/Ft. Worth Area Shootie Fans

Just seeing who all is around the Metroplex.

I've met several locals in the last few months, and I would eventually like to host a shmup-fest.

What other members are from the area?

Sorry we couldn't meet up this summer - I was doing my best to convince the wife that DFW is a better place to live than Tokyo so that we can eventually GTFO of here. Hopefully before Mt. Fuji blows and the whole country is covered in lava while simultaneously suffering a 9.7 magnitude earthquake.

You are from Keller right?

I just moved further West to the Heritage/Alliance area of North Fort Worth.

Right across the street from Haslet, but about 10 minutes from Keller.

Yup! In Keller near Bear Creek Park. My brother lives a bit closer to you in the Golden Triangle / I-35 area and I'm often out there.

I didn't even get to go to Tornado Terrys this summer.. I was wondering what they have over there now. You been lately? Last time I was there he had dozens of Neo-Geo 29" candy cabs he was trying to sell.

Saw a sign on a business today that said "ARCADE". I decided to go look it up and the name could not be more misleading...

Fookin' LAN parties...

yeah - I saw that place this summer.. Over on Western Center, right? I didn't stop in, but I googled it as soon as I got home. Major letdown.
You did go to that Awesome restaurant in the same shopping center called "A taste of Asia", right? If you haven't, I recommend you go and try the Singapore curry noodles. Right now. Mind blowingly awesome.

I have not, but I will put it on the radar. The wife and I have yet to find an AWESOME Thai restaurant out here (that makes a pad thai that is not dry). The search continues...

It's on N. Beach and Basswood if I remember correctly.

I still need to head over to Tornado Terry's.

Keep searching, and if you find one let me know. I've never found a good Thai restaurant in Texas. Not possible I believe. Just like trying to find a good Vietnamese restaurant here in Tokyo. They don't exist.

Not sure. I really need to get over there and investigate (it's 5 minutes from me in Keller). Quite a haul from Richardson!

Several of us locals have been toying with the idea of a DFW-area arcade meet and greet, just trying to decide on a venue.

Greetings. I live in Garland but considering a move to Dallas. As soon as I get set up I plan to have all my consoles connected and have my own arcade.

Hi. If anyone is going to A-kon this May/June, I have a room reserved at the Anatole. I'm taking my 360 and collection of SHMUPs to connect to the tv in the room.

Sea Siam in Keller (Off of Keller PKWY).

At last, quality Thai food.

The one next to Kroger?? Surely you're joking, right? They make a killer Thai tea, but aside from that I was not impressed in the least. The place looked like it was kid-run. I think mom and dad left the keys to the shop with their brooding teens.

Tornado Terry's is right down the road from my house, but I just haven't found a reason to check it out.

I have two Astro City cabinets and PCBs in my house, so it's hard to justify an investigation when I fear seeing the same old ticket redemption machines...

Met up with ruiza97, played some shmups I've never played before, now I'm off to Austin. Akon 24 was okay.

Do any of you Dallas-area folks have a ROM programmer? I have a board (admittedly not a shmup board) of which I'd like to test its EPROMs. Thanks!
