We'll probably not get a chance, but you never know; it might be just what a couple of us feel like, and it seems a good place to play it (and I might be reviewing it for The Guardian.)
Hi Spadgy,

I was really interested to read your comments on the Battle At Kemble's Cascade, and just wondered how you guys had found the experience of playing the game? I've recently acquired a copy, but have yet to break open the card decks - it all looks very cool and colourful, and I'm pretty excited by the prospect of discovering something new and fresh, but from the shmup pattern!

Welcome any comments that you could share.

Thanks,
HJ

Because I can't say it anywhere else, happy Chinese New Year friends, romunz, countryfolk. This year is all about goats (not goatse) - or sheep, depending on who you ask. Chinese people seem to happily confuse the two in English reference.

Huh, that's weird, must be the festive season; I also got the SW blu rays 4 - 6 yesterday after a nostalgia attack.

Just never ever watch 1 - 3 and all will be well.

If you're going to watch Star Wars you're best of getting hold of the Despecialized Editions. Blu ray quality with the shit that's been added since the 90's taken out. I know this isn't the thread, but Hayden Christensen in Jedi... Wtf.

I'm up for meets being held at Las Vegas, much easier to get to and more to do in Central London. Anyone about this month?

^THIS IS THE CASINO THREAD, I TALK WHAT I WANT
Anyways, I've had these films on my pc for years and never had the time to watch it... Before coming over to this shithole, I've dragged a few animes and films to my laptop to watch... Last week i watched back to back episode 1, 2 and 3... Two nights ago watched episode 4, and planning to finish 5 and 6 within the next few days  Of course I would prefer to watch the original Star Wars

Casino Crew Monthly Meet #06: Las Vegas Edition

Date: Saturday 28th February
Time
: 3PM - Late
Venue: Las Vegas Arcade
Website & Map: https://www.facebook.com/LasVegasArcadeSoho
Nearest Tube Station: Piccadilly Circus

This month we're mixing things up by going to Las Vegas Arcade in Soho, who have just got several new shmups in their Xbox 360 cabs.
Let's go and show our support! This means they now have:
  • ESPgaluda II
    Gunbird 2
    Ikaruga
Strikers 1945 Plus (and nearly every other Neo-Geo shmup on a multicart)
    Triggerheart Exelica
    Trouble Witches Neo
Chi, will you be able to make it since you'll be back in London?

Edit: I can't go to The HoG today PAPER/ARTILLERY - I'll definitely be at Las Vegas on the 28th though!

OK. I will be in London and have time from 8th to 15th (maybe not weekend, not sure yet) and thought it would be nice to get some little meetup/shmupping going on. Anyone got any ideas for something?

Hi ptoing, it's been a while since we've had a visitor from abroad! Definitely check out Las Vegas Arcade and The Heart of Gaming while you're in London.

I'm free on the 14th and 15th, so perhaps there could be a Mini Meet on one of those days - any thoughts from the regulars?

CHI that arcade looks fantastic! Also Im curious to hear what you thought of the Star Wars series watching it in that order, Im not a fan myself, probably because I grew up with the prequels.

PTOING! It would be great to see you! Las Vegas and HOG are the places to go. The weekend would be best for me, ie the 14th. But I'll come up to london in the evening (after 5pm) on a weekday if that's not possible.

Unfortunately I fractured me elbow last week. Fell off my bicycle. So I cant really play anything. Not that I've been playing anything but Dark Souls recently. My lack of motivation to practice a shmup has meant I've only got a single clear since Stunfest!

Spadge are you going to Stunfest this year?

Heyhey, it was good to see JDE and Paper the other day.

Brief rundown of Las Vegas arcade:

Espgaluda 2: controls well 1p side - colour way off.
Button mappings are a bit goofy (shot, kakusei, bomb in that order)

Gunbird 2: Seems fine. 2P stick is rather tough.

50p per credit for these ^

Neogeo multicab: Steer clear.
While it has seemingly the entire neogeo library, and an instructions placard tells you to pick a game then insert credit. It just ate my money and gave no credit.

SF: 3rd Strike - £1 per credit. Fuck that.

Couldn't get on the 360 set up because a crowd of Ultra SF4 players were there.

Copy and pasted from timeout.com
A dedicated classic and retro arcade games bar, The Four Quarters is the place to go if you want to brush up on your 'Street Fighter II' skills or just revel in nostalgia by playing 'Pac Man' until your eyes goes square. It serves primarily as a bar, but is also open as a cafe in the afternoons before the booze starts flowing thick and fast in the evenings. Speaking of booze, there's a good selection of craft beers to choose from, alongside the usual favourites, and hearty pub food is served. To utilise the stacks of old arcade games, there are regular gaming tournaments, plus occasional films screenings and one-off events and parties
JWS wrote:Im curious to hear what you thought of the Star Wars series watching it in that order, Im not a fan myself, probably because I grew up with the prequels.
I've watched episode 1 a few times in the past but never had the chance to watch episode 2 & 3. Watching it in this order gave me the insight of the whole storyline (Darth Vader's life)... Also, when I watched the original Star Wars as a kid, I didn't sit quietly concentrating on the story, I had a stick as a lightsaber, cos I was Luke
So yeah, watching back old films brought back a lot of memories

PS: this week I just finished watching the three Hobbits and three Lord Of The Rings, in that order :!:
Each film is fucking long but great films indeed, might buy the blu ray copies cos the visual is amazing...

I wonder if there's any overlap between that crowd and the old poor sods who played SF4 at Casino.... but having a crowd sounds like an improvement already :P

I keep hearing 4 Quarters in well worth a visit. Casino Crew visit soon?

And it sounds like Las Vegas has improved the sticks, but they're far from perfect? Still; Toby there is try hard.

And sorry I didn't make the 28th. Fun?

I'm back up for air now after yet another work patch. But it looks like I'll have time for the next meet!

And CHI; you're back in the UK? How long for? We must meet!

Oh, and all of you; I have a spare free PC code to dowload Grow Home if anybody wants that.
