Any luck with snagging that Ibara 2nd loop score last night Del? You weren't far off of that pesky extend when I left you!

EDIT: Also, renamed this thread and jazzed up the first post, with a map and such...

^My Ibara scoring still sucks, but I'm much more concerned about distance at the mo. I find the 2nd loop fast but fun :) .
With all the myriad of things that can go wrong on an Ibara run, its just a game that takes attempt after attempt after attempt. I think this is the way its gonna go at the Minieet - many attempts.

Right – I’m down there tonight, very briefly on Thursday, and on Friday too. Three days of Progear focus!

Anybody down there? Tigershark, you said you might be down this week.

Jesus there was drama last night. Final boss with a life in stock, meaning six bombs, and I get so bloody excited I still manage to tit it up and then rampage around the arcade cursing.

Still not quite as fuming as I've seen Del though!

That said I did get further into that boss than ever before, so I'm getting close... and got a new high score... but was so frenzied I entered my name wrong!

Also, I met another Forum member, who is apparently more of a lurker here, and shamefully I just remember his posting name began with R, but very impressed with his rapid progression with Mushi! Nice bloke.

I'll be down tonight, if anybody's there...

Once I reach a certain level of competency on a game, I stop fuming. So far (last 2 months) I've been on the Ibara learning curve, so tantrums are guaranteed, but I'm entering the 2nd loop with high frequency now, so I've reached a calm plateau over the last few days.

Glad to see you're getting close on Progear, I will probably see you there tonight.

Glad to hear you might be there DEL.

I'd say my reaction to death that Masamune enjoys is actually part of the adrenalin of pushing yourself in a shooter. Sometimes when I end a game of Progear I'm literally shaky, out of breath, and nervous and hyped, which is the reason I love them I guess...

It's anger and frustration with myself too of course!

Well that's what I was saying to you the other night. The adrenaline rush from a hard stressful run is both what we seek and what causes the natural agression to rise (at least in me). Its part of the male make-up, linked into our survival instincts, raising agression to make us more effective against enemies. Or something like that  .
Like I said, all I need to do is vent that anger briefly and then I'm fine.

Since I ran into spadgy the other day, I thought I'd come out of the shadows and say hi.

I've been to Casino Arcade four or five times now, on the advice of this thread, and I'm loving it as I've only got MAME available at home so I've never played on a cab, or indeed any shmup released since 2001.
Hopefully I'll have some sort of high score on Mushi's Maniac mode to post up sometime soon :)

Yes! I beat Progear finally. Did it just over an hour ago at Casino! Craig was my witness, thank god, as I forgot my bloody Camera phone!

I'm so chuffed, and now I can play some other stuff there (though I'm up for beating my score (12.67million) again...

Thanks one and all!

Masamune - if you like my drama when I loose a life, you should have seen the celebration. Mainly it involved a lot of fingers stuck up at Progear, bad language, and proclaiming 'now I never have to play you again'!

However, now the excitement has worn off, I'm really up for going back to Progear, and I think, as I'm quite hard on myself when playing games, the fact that I've got the 1CC and the pressure is off, I should be able to progress a bit more by just being a bit more relaxed.

The real secret was not think of the last boss as some impenetrable wall that I could only panic bomb, and I just actually tried to out-maneuver the bugger, and it worked.

So, I'm going still give Progear some trouble, but I might also move on to RFJ now, while the board is still in the arcade!

And no - I still haven't learnt the extra life trick on stage 4...

You at the London Minimeet this weekend coming Smraedis? I know it's a long way to come for you! Progear's there of course, so we can all have a go.

In fact, anybody reading this thread should head on over for 19th 20th of this month.

Here's the thread!.

I'd like to keep it in for a little while longer, but ill6's boards normally go in for the purpose of Meets & eets, then get returned to the owner.
I wouldn't mind a 2-4 before it gets removed.

My Ibara can go in there in it's place. I meekly admit I've barely given it much attention in recent months. Or, if something newer is needed for Casino, you're welcome to borrow mine DEL...

Ok a little longer then :) . I just want to get further into the 2nd loop and torture some more Casino customers.

Cheers, DEL
I guess this board should be replaced when we have something newer to install (something that a local doesn't mind loaning for the purpose of the next Winter Meet).
