Good meet, guys. They tend to go pretty quickly though, huh? Especially in a place like HoG, I saw some easy prey playing smash in the corner and thought i'd have a few games, suddenly its 9pm and everyone's gone

Oh that's where you were. I tried to find you to say goodbye but I thought you'd already left. Good meet though, HoG is pretty damn good excepting a few slightly wonky controllers here and there. Also very much enjoyed Space Moth on a real cab. Good work guys!

I had a great time at the meet on Saturday, really good turnout and I'm glad everyone enjoyed playing Space Moth on a cab: it's no longer just "arcade style", it's the real deal!
And as of today, the PC version of Space Moth is available to buy from the 1CC Games website, so you can play it at home as well as down The HoG!

Sorry about the short notice, but I won't be able to make it to the HoG this weekend: just been offered a job interview on Monday, and there's loads of stuff I need to prepare!

So there won't be an "official" Monthly Meet unless another member of the Casino Crew wants to organise it, but don't let that stop you from going to the HoG!

I am kicking myself for not going sooner. I was aware of and intended to show up at your meets when they were still at the casino. All my fault for procrastinating furiously.

Hello! Remember me?

So sorry I've been gone for about three months. And I've missed so much. New regular meets, Space Moth in a bloody arcade! You guys have been busy.

I've not even an excuse... busy-ish work patch and moving out of London, but really I'm just a bit of a dick. I was offline a bit after the move, and then just got my meek on about having not posted, and somehow that turned into not posting for ages.

But I'm back now, I promise. And I should be able to make these new monthly HoG meets now. I actually had four weddings, three stag does, a funeral, four family gatherings and all sorts else in an eight week stretch, but now it's all settled down, I'm catching up with everything.

JDE - what are the details of the next meet?

JDE and Dan76 - how's the Space Moth launch gone?

hzt - where the fuck are you these days?

CHI - are you back in the UK now?

Oh - and I have a code for one of you - to download the full version of Outland on the PC for free. It's a bullet hell-ish platformer from Housemarque. Them what did Stardust, Resogun etc. Let me know if you want it and I'll PM you the code. One for the Casino fam' and wider posse only, of course. You know who you are.

And I'm a bit out the way now, but I've three arcades a five minute walk from my house now (I live in Old Town Hastings, on the South Coast). o shumps, but lots of lovely light gun and driving games. A lovely near minty Daytona for you JDE. So if anybody fancies a couple of days by the seaside, get down here!

And I will edit that OP soon JDE. But I've been up since 5.30am, and my eyes are closing. Tomorrow, for sure!

No details just yet: there might be a films/games night at Rupert's new pad, or maybe we'll go to the HoG or LV. Perhaps we'll do all three! It would be great if you could make it down to the next meet though. Go on, you know you want to!

Sales have been slower than expected, but the feedback from everyone that's actually bought Space Moth has been positive, and the first review is due out next week so hopefully that'll help.

Yes please! Assuming it's still available that is.

I've been telling everyone that for the past 5 months, and it took me 3 weeks to realise it
Monaco just sounds fancy and that but there's fuck all here... It's a place where the rich and famous, buying properties, evading tax and feeling comfortable without the paparazzi on their tail... I've bumped into Sir Roger Moore a few times, and the Prince and Princess of Monaco came to the restaurant a couple times... Don't get me wrong, the French Riviera is amazing (Menton, Nice, Cap'Dail, Eze, Cannes, etc) but here, meh...

It doesn't surprise me. Just a super-rich tax haven/evasion. Everything pales in comparison to London, Euroland-wise.

I only spent a week there once, and a few other days on another work trip, so I don't really have enough experience, but I know what you mean. I found the place beautiful, clean, luxurious etc... but it felt empty of people and empty of atmosphere. I'm guessing lot's of people that own houses there aren't actually living there?

I've actually got a good story about the Prince of Monaco and my dad! This was the early 80s, so back then it may have been a different guy carrying the title, but I understand he was a teenager at the time. So the legend goes... My mum and dad owned and ran the village store when I was very tiny. Up the road was a very luxurious tennis and golf academy. Very, very rich kids would spend summers there, and come down to the shop. My parents appreciated the business, but my dad's never really been a people person. Once a group of kids were being right prats in the shop; noisy, obnoxious, demanding, rude etc, without actually buying anything. So my dad threw the one out he deemed the ringleader; gave him a bit of a bollocking; put him in his place. Almost immediately after, a guy in a suit came in, strode up to my dad and said sternly 'do you realise you just threw the prince of Monaco out of this shop?'.

My dad replied 'no'.

Then the man said with a wry smile 'I'm his security, and I just wanted to tell you how much I envy you for getting to do that'.

Who knows how much time and retelling have twisted the story, but apparently its true!

Anyway - CHI - you bring Roger along to the next shmupmeet you make, yeah? He might just about serve as a stand in for Skykid.

And JDE - I'll get you that code soonish. It's still available.

And I'll give your game a nod on Twitter. Loads of games people follow me there.

He's not quite as suave and lacks a certain sophistication, but you could do worse.

What's going on with the next meet then? Rupert's horror film thing happening? Or A HoG meet soon.

I detest all of you, of course, but I'd still love to catch up!

You back for Christmas then DEL?

I'll be in and out of London across the period. We need a HoG Xmas meet!

Also, I have another game code for my Casino fam', and this time it's a shmup. I've a Steam code I can't make use of (no PC) for the PC-only new Euroshmup The Blue Flamingo (the one where they build everything for real, making a 32 foot long model level, filming bangers for the explosions etc.). Gameplay looks average; art style looks fascinating. Who wants the code? It's free to Casino 'fam.

And JDE - I'll PM you that other code for the Housemarque game right now!

Casino Crew Monthly Meet #04: Xmas Edition

Date: Saturday 13th December
Time
: 3PM - Late
Venue: The HoG
Website & Map: http://www.facebook.com/TheHeartOfGaming
Nearest Tube Station: North Acton

Now that most of the Casino Crew live outside of London, it's been a while since we've had a big meet. So let's try to change that and make the Xmas meet huge! Hzt, Skykid and Chi are excused because they're not in the UK, but it would be great if everyone else could make it! The date isn't set in stone, so let me know if you want to change it.

As usual entry is £10, then you can stay until closing at midnight and all the machines are on free play. Guests are welcome, and to help anyone that hasn't been before find us, I'll be bringing a big messenger bag with "Casino Crew" written on it: look for the bag, then come and say hi!

Yup, but starting a week after the HoG meet. I'll still try and arrange something of course. (Not that I'm into Arrange Modes)
