CPS2 game swap

Post by footix »

hello folks,
here is my problem:
i got from some french seller a progear bootleg made of an old grey game, a mobo came with it but it was like doa...
since i couldn't find any suitable mobo for it i tried to swap the chips of the progear board to a old cps2 title i had (darkstalkers). the problem is:
the jumper settings on the two boards doesn't match ( darkstalkers is 93646B-4, progear was 93646B-7 ) i finally got the video working flawlessly, but the sound still bitches me, about half the gfx and music are twisted up...
i tried different jumper settings but no luck...
moreover pal3 is missing on the progear board... it has solder points to "emulate" the pal3.
doing this modification on the sac board doesn't help at all...
any ideas folks?
i'm getting tired on it :/
thanks

Have you considered that it might have been fucked up before you even got it? ;-) Might be a failed conversion. Check for obvious things like the chips being wrongly labelled or in the wrong sockets (common on converted games generally), and also check for jumpers on the sub board.
