A way to play imports on my U.S. PS2?

Post by J-Manic »

I've been thinking about buying all the lastest import shmups for the PS2, but I don't feel like spending money a Japanese PS2 console. Isn't there something similar to the Dreamcast Gameshark CD-X that will allow me to play import on my U.S. PS2? Will a PS2 Gameshark work??

For slim PS2s: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=8659
For original PS2s: get Swap Magic (the PS2's swap disc) and a fliptop (to avoid the numerous region detections done when the eject button is pressed). They should come together for about $30.

A more expensive, but nice alternative is hdloader. That's how I play all my ps2 shmups.

Thanks alot guys for the help. Both of those solutions sound reasonable ebough. I alos was considering just getting my console modded. That should do the trick too, won't it?

I have used Swap Magic in the past, and now I use a direct-boot mod chip. It is MUCH more convenient, although a bit pricier.
