My current setup:

I will connect my laptop to my SDTV though, once I find the right cable. I'm also thinking about getting a cab.

Unfortunately they don't ship outside the US... does it work with CAVE games?

It doesn't work with the native iOS Cave games, just the Cave games via emulator. I've asked if they had any plans to support it via their facebook page... but I kinda doubt they would do it.

Fixing the monitor outside was not possible, so its fixed inside using hotwater cylinder straps to the bracket mount at the back of the 4:3 lcd standard vga monitor. Sound provided by 2.1 pc speaker setup with the sub exposed at the coin slot compartment.

Everything above is FREE from different people and for the finishing touch, my own HSS which I got from rolins as the control panel.

Its not a complete cabinet, so I consider it as so.

That's actually not too shabby. What size is that monitor in the Astro?

I think its a 22 inch screen...will check it later. Got it as a cherry on top when we borrowed money from kiwibank as we transferred our home loans to them as the interest rates were starting to stagnant or drop...so in a way, I guess its a bought gift...at first I loathed it because it wasnt widescreen, but after using it at 480p (and being 600x480 native) from the xbox1 emulation, it was as crispy as a fresh bag of doritos! So I reserved it as a lightweight crt alternative for old school gaming.

Thanks for the info Stealthlurker. I was afraid to hear the incompatibility on IOS games. Still is a nice thing to own for someone with an iPad.

a long time coming for me, found a PVM-1390 on kijiji and could not pass it up.

Spent some time today building a scart -> pvm adapter cable, and now it's ready to go! It's quite handy having all the connections on the side of the monitor.

Must be fumes from the new shed that got to me and change my perception of the cab being a tate setup. But I reckon someone should find the optimal setting to angle the screen and distance from the joystick panel...a bit ott but may save peoples back from bad posture prehaps??

The monitor rotates great into vertial mode but you can only turn it one way, clockwise I think.

This isn't too much of an issue but I tried to play Triggerheart Exelica on the Dreamcast but couldn't get the game to dislay properely. This wouldn't be an issue if the monitor rotated anti clockwise.

I'm thinking of getting a Neoflex stand for it instead but will only get one if someon can confirm that i can rotate the monitor anti clockwise as well as clockwise.

If anyone was a neoflex stand could they advise on this?

many thanks
PRO TIP:

I *had* one of those "only tates one way - the WRONG way" LCDs...but NO MORE.

I know this sounds brutal...but....

The mechanism that allows the TATE isn't a ball socket...it's most likely a pair of discs...like a lock tumbler....
So if you try to turn it the wrong way it stops....but if you FORCE it...it'll POP....

Now the shackles of CCW rotation are broken....don;t be scurred...worst thing that can happen is you pull a muscle straining on that shit...I'd say about 20 lbs of pressure taught that LCD it's lesson...

There is a pic of the LCD in question some pages back...

Try it...if it WORKS I wanna hear about it....

Got PCSX2 running with Mushi ... picture is fuzzy, will probably take some tweaking to improve it, but I'm pretty happy that it's running basically full speed

The hilarious thing is, I have a PS2 I can play it on, but I'm using optical audio so I get no sound, and I can't 'tate my TV anyway.

Here's my dorm room. Sadly my TV has magnets in the speakers so I get discoloration on the top left and bottom right corners. Can you remove those or should I just deal with it? You can see the box that converts a Neo Geo modded Saturn pad to USB for the Xbox. Best invention ever.

There's a huge TV that I can't even lift at the basement of my dorm room. All the RA's said they bought and no one has even used it so I decided to put it to good use.

Without seeing the TV, I'd guess that the speakers can be removed, but you'd probably have to completely disassemble the thing to get at them.

There's no degaussing option?

I pretty much have to unplug the TV when I want to flip it. I could get one of those wands, but I have no clue how much those cost and where to get one. Sides, I think I'm gonna wait it out till I get a new TV.

I got an old 20" CRT TV and set it up tate today. Popped DDP in MAME and 1-ALLed it first try on the TV. Probably coincidental, but pretty sweet nonetheless.

Now, to get a decent stick...

A few changes recently, adding:
- a Hauppauge HD-PVR,
- my DVDO iScan VP30,
to my HP w2408h 24" LCD monitor, my Street Fighter IV TE stick (with a Seimitsu LS-32-01), and my J-X360.

Also in shot, my 17" MacBook Pro, and Rin Tohsaka.

My first TATE set-up! Turned a shitty college dorm room TV into the arcade hotspot on campus.

Seriously though, it's a Coby TF-TV1525 15-Inch 720p LCD TV that I picked up for under $100, and I realized that it was perfect for TATE-ing. It helps that I forgot to bring my screwdriver to university so I couldn't attach the "proper" mount anyways. It's not mounted on the side, so it's a bit tilted against a natural part of the wall that keeps it propped up but I can see just fine. And it's really not *that* far away from me. The pictures don't really do it justice; it's a lot better in person. It's shitty compared to the other set-ups in this thread, but give me some bonus points for a) accomplishing this in a college dorm room, and b) this being my first TATE set-up?

Image

The only downside is that Galuda II is a bit clumsy...I can't seem to tweak the screen settings enough so that I can see the game screen perfectly without anything getting cut off.

Love the picture on these monitors. Can you tell which monitor is using RGB and s-video? Hehe.

Yea sorry my camera is only 3.2 mp and doesn't do justice whenever I take screenshots off a CRT.
I had friend over to play Guardians/Denjin Makai 2 and did a blind test with both monitors. He sat 3ft away and still couldn't tell which was which.
