Arcade 1up cabinet : easy screen rotation mod Yoko/Tate

Post by guigui »

Hello all,

I bought this regular Arcade 1up cabinet and made some modifications on it. Check the easy screen rotation mod : form Yoko to Tate in less than 30 seconds, no unscrewing required (of course this is LCD screen).

Full rotation : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcUl6SKoLmU
Some explanations on how it is done : https://youtu.be/LxMoUMOzCwU

The basic way to do this is to mount the bezel on drawers slides to allow it to slide down and up. Then cut the panel holding the screen in a square shape to allow for easy rotation. Beware of all the tiny computations for everything to fall in the right place in both orientation.

Hope you enjoy it.

I really like that sliding screen mechanism, great work!

I don't like pulling the screen out to rotate, but it does seem easy.

I also, don't like using A1UP cabinets because they are very small, but overall, great work, thanks for sharing!

What hardware/software did you end up using to get DDP up and running on an Arcade1Up cabinet setup, guigui?

That's quite slick to have the LCD monitor be tate'able -- wow! And is a scanline shader enabled/applied to DDP for that slick CRT monitor look/feel when it's up and running?

Thanks for your message PCEFX, always a pleasure to see your sig here ^_~

Running DDP is via Raspberry Pi. I removed the original Arcade1up materials to put Sanwa controls and Pi, so this is just your typical average Mamecab now. No scanlines/shader for this recording, just default setup for DDP on FBA.

EDIT : I added a video with a little more explanations on how it is done. Sorry if bad english or video quality.
