Blazing Star Intro minor issue

Post by BuckoA51 »

Has anyone noticed on the intro to the AES game Blazing Star, sometimes the opening animation will get little black dots on it just at random places, yet other times when it plays it's fine.

I have noticed this across 2 different AES systems and two different NeoSD carts. I haven't however noticed it on Mister. I don't have access to the original cart.

Possibly a fault with the NEOSD? I did ask Terraonion (back before they went all PR suicide) and they said there were no known bugs.

Never seen this myself. I have legit AES cart and rev3-6 stock jp bios.

Update - It's WAY more pronounced on one AES while on the other it barely happens at all

I'm also noticing these same black dots in Top Hunter, particularly at the top of the image. I think this AES has an issue.

Well here's an interesting thread, apparently using a low amp PSU can cause it:-

I'll see if I can find a higher amp 9V PSU (one of my AES is 9v and the other 5v), the 5v 6A machine rarely has the dots, while the lower amp 9v machine does.

IIRC this may be exacerbated by the NeoSD. I'd go search threads on the N-G forums but still haven't recovered from PTSD of my last trip there.

Indeed. I'll order in a Triad as recommended by FBX and see how that goes.

Triad PSU made no difference on AES number one (a 9V model). Even tried a 3 amp PSU but still the problem persists.

Sometimes a soft reset of the console gets rid of it for at least one run through of the intro.

At this point I was about ready to drop a few hundred on a genuine cart until I went on eBay and, well, add a zero to that.. lol nope, too rich for my blood.

My guess is some obscure undiagnosed fault with either the NeoSD or my AES.
