Toshiba 20A42 RGB Mod?

Post by Ianr757 »

I just picked up a Toshiba 20A42, which is a composite only set. I'm very interested in RGB modding it, but have not seen anyone else do so. Is it possible on this set, and if so, do you guys have any recommendations on how to go about it? I have done extensive console repair and modification work, but this is my first CRT mod. Thanks.

Pretty sure this has been covered in the main TV RGB Mod thread.

Looks like a straightforward OSD Mux mod.

R121, R122 and R123 are your factory inline resistors, R102, R103 and R104 are your factory OSD "grounding resistors".

Basic RGB mod is to remove R102, R103 and R104 and insert the external 75 ohm terminated RGB via 750 Ohm resistors. solder the wires to the empty (not grounded) pads of R102/103/104.

Blanking should be something like 5V into a switch and then into a 4700 Ohm resistor and the onto the blanking circuit somewhere on the blanking circuit on the jungle side of R120 and the jungle fast blank pin.

Sync and audio into AV as usual.
