capture card lacks HDMI output - options?

Post by korpse413 »

I have a PEXHDCAP60L capture card that I normally use to capture 240p signal. As the title suggests I would like to try and capture HDMI with it, however it lacks an HDMI passthrough output as most cards offer these days. The intention is to capture gameplay that I play from my TV, without a loss of frames. Does there exist an HDMI split that keeps everything 1:1 no lag or is this a pipedream? Do I just try and find a cheaper solution that offers HDMI passthru?

*edit*: since posting this I rewatched a video from Game Sack / MLiG collab on this same topic, and it 'seems' like any powered splitter should be 'good enough' I am currently looking into this one since it offers EDID and 4 outputs for same price of what I am seeing out there: https://www.amazon.com/Splitter-Distrib ... merReviews

I am all ears if someone has a working solution they can recommend over this^

*edit 2*: I grabbed the cheapo / fakeo Orei black/blue splitter as I figure if its a failure I can use it as a potential HDCP stripper for PS3. If it turns out to be a POS ill consider just getting a newer capture card.

I use this splitter without issue. It doesn't strip HDCP by default but can be made to do so through the firmware. The same company also makes this splitter which does strip HDCP by default, but it had issues with my capture card for some weird reason. Really any splitter should work fine though. I can't imagine they add lag unless you enable some kind of processing.
