Hello fellow trigger happy friends. I have been wondering is the HDMI Scanlinine-Generator. You know the one thats on sale from china. If this unit produces input lag. And if so by how many frames? Anyone got experience with this gadget?
HDMI Scanlinien-Generator?
Re: HDMI Scanlinien-Generator?
I don't think that it introduces lag, but it's doing a D/A conversion first, then applies the scanlines to the analogue signal and reconverts the signal to HDMI.
I would say that you're much better off using an OSSC with a HDMI to VGA input dongle. This still gives you a conversion back to VGA first, but at least the OSSC is doing everything in the digital domain.

Re: HDMI Scanlinien-Generator?
Thanks. So you are saying there is a loss of picture quality with this thing?
Re: HDMI Scanlinien-Generator?
The A/D converter (the conversion behind the actual scanline generation) only offers generic sampling. This causes a loss in horizontal resolution for some sources (Dreamcast for example). Eventually depends on your actual sources I guess.
