I've found this forum to be very interesting (actually, some info/advices were crucial to get the processor) there is why I decided to share some pics of the 3000U internals. Maybe it could be useful to someone (I suspect the difference between 3000 and 3000U could be in one IC, not sure).

Lovely. Here are some shots of 240p running on the DVP-3000 (well, DVP-3000 plus scanline generator).

The DVP-3000 was $20,000 in 1999, so it predates the Retrotink 5X by 22 years. Interestingly it was basically also among the first "full screen 1080p" processors back in the days after the earlier qadrupler units (which only did output 960p instead of 1080p).
