snes 1chip, brightness problem

Post by yoZe »

Hello everyone!

I have a snes pal 1chip-01 which lacks brightness. The picture is dark and lacks brightness compared to my other consoles.
In comparison, the image of a snes 2chip is much brighter. It is the same with the retroarch emulator in wii version and also raspberry (with the rgbPI cable).
Below is a comparison with F-zero running under rgbPI and on my snes 1chip.

You can see that the image is brighter on the raspeberry. The pictures do not necessarily reflect reality as the difference is much more noticeable in real life.
The previous owner has made modifications to the motherboard to obviously reduce the brightness.

My poor knowledge of electronics does not allow me to know if the work was well done.
If anyone can help me correct this problem and get the brightness back to normal?
Thank you.

Looks like the stock RGB may have been bypassed and a THS7314 amp was put in. You can find pertinent information concerning your arrangement here:

The problem was with my official rgb cable. With a noname rgb cable from gamecube I was able to get a decent brightness.
