Micro SD Cards

Post by Rock Man »

Simple inquiry, other than amazon and ebay. Anyone know a good place a to pick up a 1TB micro sd card by sandisk or other recommended distributers. I am looking for this one but cheaper.

Don't try too hard to save money on SD cards. Fakes are incredibly common, and even sneak into the legitimate supply chains of major retailers. By all means, look for a good sale, but make sure you buy an SD card only from a place where it easy to get a refund or replacement. Some place you can visit in person, or an online retailer with painless refunds like Amazon.

That said, $230 USD is the MSRP, so at that point, you can be guaranteed not to get a fake by just buying it directly from the manufacturer (https://shop.westerndigital.com/product ... 1T00-AN6MA).

Also, that card is on sale until midnight tonight for $180 USD at B&H, though it's a pre-order.

Yeah, definitely buy from Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Micro Center, etc... Fakes are so common. On something like a 1TB card, don't expect to see prices drop much more than 40-50 bucks below MSRP, during a really, really good sale. If you find something discounted more than that, it's probably fake.

Just make sure if buying from Amazon that you purchase a name brand. Amazon is crawling with fake-branded extremely large fake SD cards. I don't know why Amazon hasn't cracked down on that.

Agreed. And even then, run tests on it, cause fakes have slipped into Amazon's supply, too.
