NESRGB 2.0 Dejitter Mod Compatability

Post by dubesinhower »

I'm trying to install a dejitter mod in a Front Loader with an NESRGB 2.0 board, but I'm not getting a sync with my OSSC. I updated the NESRGB board to firmware 2.3, and confirmed the wiring with another NES that has a dejitter (older NESRGB version). I even swapped the dejitter board from the known working NES to this new one, and it still isn't working.

This console has a multiout and an IGR board.

Has anyone successfully added dejitter to an NESRGB 2.0 board?

The NESRGB 2.0 boards have dejitter baked in; you probably want to avoid wiring in a standalone dejitter mod.

No, it doesn't solve sync issues with the OSSC. I emailed Tim Worthington about it, and this was his response:

"It depends what you mean by dejitter. Normally the NES removes one pixel
from the first visible line on every second frame of video. The current
firmware puts the pixel back, so all frames are the same length. It does
not correct the first line, which still has a sync pulse one pixel too
early.

Most television sets are happy with the video coming from the NESRGB,
but there are a few which are not. You can change the TV, change the
video processor (the Framemeister is better for compatibility than the
OSSC), or perhaps install the NES dejitter board from Video Gaming
Perfection (requires firmware Version 2.3 programmed to the NESRGB)."

We you able to get this figured out? I am having the same issue. I installed the standalone dejitter to my nesrgb with firmware 2.3, but I get no sync on the OSSC.

Were you able to get this working? I am having the same issue. I have flashed the NESRGB with firmware 2.3, but get no sync on the OSSC. I have confirmed the clock wire and capacitor jumper with a multimeter. I followed this guidehttps://retromods.game.blog/nes-famicom/nes-dejitter-mod-install/ . Any ideas why its not working?
