year end Saturn (Composite) Sync out 5 Volt JAP 0,2 Volt PAL

Post by D »

Thanks to a guru who recently awakened I now know the Japanese Saturn outputs something like 5.something volts and the european 0,2 volts.
So how can I make the japenese supply 0,2 volts to my tv?

perhaps put 8 0r 9 diodes between the signal?
what is the sync signal then? this signal is supposed to send my tv in RGB mode and 5 volts is too much so no switch to RGB!

Soon I will be an authority on the matter, but not quite yet.
help me out plz.
last day of the year request

I'm really confused.
Lot's of different information on the net:

Looks lovely doesn't it?

Well, my readings indicate that the signal from pin 1 from the saturn output to pin 8 and pin 16

My PAL saturn has about 0.2 volts which will put my tv into RGB mode!
My Jap saturn has about 5 volts which will not put my tv into RGB mode!

*confused*

anyway I guess the Saturn is supposed to have 5 volts on pin 16!
But is this the sync signal?
I guess not then!

Perhaps the Japanese Saturn does output sync somewhere?

Ok, if you want to drop the voltage, it is probably easier to use a single resistor instead of '8 or 9 diodes'.

And no, that 5v signal is not the 'sync'. It's pretty much there to tell the TV to switch into RGB mode.

The sync is listed in both pinout links you have in your post, where it is depends on if you're dealing with european or japanese SCART connector.

The Saturns have different pin outs!
Where I expect a 0.2 Volt on pin 1 the Japanese Saturn gives me 5.70 Volts

Pin 1 from the saturn goes to pin 8 & 16!
Which is correct for Japan, but I want the 0.2 Volt signal from somewhere from the saturn.

Who can tell me which pin on the Japanese Saturn will put my tv in RGB mode (0.2 V)!

I can rewire the SCART cable!
