Voultar Famicom/NES AV mod board?

Post by ASDR »

I've seen these around:

Were those actually designed / made by Voultar? Something he sold or something he open sourced? I can't find any references to these anywhere on his shop and he doesn't seem to have like a GitHub for board designs he gives away. Just curious if those are really his and if there's a reason why he doesn't mention / make them available anywhere, like a flaw in the design etc.

These are for the Famicom and NES-101, which only output RF, correct?

Yes, they just grab the composite video directly from the NES PPU instead of passing it on to the RF modulator. I think the circuit is exactly the parts that were added in the western NES or the toploader.
