AmaRecTV: Image too Dark when Capturing Japanese Signals?

Post by wingzrow »

Don't know if this is the right place, but I'm capturing a VHS Game Trailer Compilation from the 90s (the kind they ran on loop in Japan), and the image is too dark. I've been told this is due to the IRE levels being different from Japan to America, but I've never run into this with any of my retro game consoles. Is there any way to change the IRE levels in Amarec TV, or do I need a Japanese VCR to capture this tape correctly? I've tried changing the settings to NTSC-J in the program but it always snaps back to regular NTSC-M when I hit confirm.

Your capture card's configuration pane likely has an option for changing the input signal to "NTSC_J" or "NTSC_M_J".

Click "Device Setting" under Graph 1(Device) in AmaRecTV's configuration.
