VP50 Pro black screen

Post by BuckoA51 »

Using my VP50 pro last night via the analogue out, I was accessing the test patterns to check on a CRT and the thing just suddenly went to a black screen. The menus on the LCD still work, but nothing but black screen from analogue out and no signal from HDMI out.

I did a factory reset but still no joy.

Is it destined for the electrical recycle centre or is there hope it can be fixed?

standard recommendation is to use another PSU, since this it was usually goes bad on the DVDO machines - especially with any irrational behaviour like this.

I will definitely look into that, the PSUs buried behind the shelf (I'll dig it out later today) but I thought it was a replacement one anyway.

it's still hard to find any proper 6V PSUs with enough amperage. I think to remember that some postings suggested that a good 5V PSU will be fine as well. 5V10A ones are quite easily available. Adafruit makes one. Available from Mouser and other outlets at something around 30 EUR.

A new PSU had the unit working again for a period then it went back to the same erratic behaviour. I guess I'm just going to have to look for another one.

Having kind of the same problem, but only with analog output, HDMI is working fine. I'm using a generic 6v 10a power supply

I sent mine off to BetaGamma and they serviced it as per this post - http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35153

It now works with HDMI out but the analogue just shows a black screen.

Weirdly I'm sure this happened to one unit I had back in the UK too, that then suddenly seemed to come back to life....

Guess I'll just hook it up through the HD Fury Nano for now, retire it once the OSSC Pro gets here.

Looks like my VP50Pro is on the fritz as well, it freezes immediately after receiving power (displays firmware version on front panel w/red power LED, but no output and no response to any button presses on the front panel or remote). Tried a new old stock PSU, but same behavior.

Guess I'll have to open it up and see if I can figure out the problem, maybe it's similar to the ones linked in the previous post.
