Horizontal Deflection Component Identification Help.

Post by Ryeno »

Can someone please explain to me the purpose of C513.

This capacitor connects the negative side of the yoke to ground. When I increase the value of this capacitor (from .047uF to .051uF) my heater voltage decreases (~.01v), raster width reduces and effects pincushion. I want to change the value from .051uF to .062uF to decrease my heater voltage. Is this safe modification? Right now I am reading 6.385v.

Also can someone please explain C516, C553 and L505. I believe C553 and L505 is the dummy yoke circuit. Not sure. Increasing the value of C516 (.82uF to 1.2uF) increases my raster width. Does this capacitor effect Reducing the value of C553 (.24 to .15uF) and increasing the inductance of L505 (100mH to 150mH) increases my raster width.

C511 & C554 is the retrace/safety cap. C514 & C1501 is the s-cap. T505 is the linearity coil. T502 is the horizontal size transformer?

Not an easy question, as many of these components work in conjunction with other components that feedback each other.
What are you trying to do?

motherboard swap from a 36" to 27" tube. I got the issue figured out. Found a combo that worked well.
