Sega Saturn Pad Hack

Post by Trevor spencer »

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has ever done a pad hack with one of these controllers ?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254489705904

I've ordered one to try but if anyone has any info on these that would be great.

Yeah I did that some years ago. Super easy, just remove all components and wire up the buttons and ground to the DB15 connector.

Yes it was the same one :)

You can remove the IC and then solder to those pads. That makes for a very clean and easy install.

EDIT: Actually please clarify if you're planning to use this pad on another system like a Supergun or you wish to install it inside an Arcade Stick. If you want the latter then you shouldn't remove the IC of course :D

EDIT 2: Also I did NOT use one of those controllers, I used an official Sega one. But it should work just the same. Sorry I'm apparently very confused today :D

I'm going to wire it into a project box and a db15 so I can use my db15 arcade stick on my saturn.

Just an update on this , the pcb in those pads is perfect for modding.

They are common ground and its very easy to solder onto the solder pads for each button.

Very happy.
