Is there a way to feed it vga? What kind of cable do I need? Basically I'm looking to use it as a vga2conpnent transcoder since I can't find one anywhere

You need a sync combiner up front. Either built into a cable or something like an Extron RGB interface.

Or you can wait for linuxbot3000 to restock his VGA to component converter. These are available on ebay.
