CPS2 fan swap

Post by thchardcore »

Has anyone done this or can they refer me to a place that shows me how this is done. I will be using my CPS2 outside a cab and so I'd like to make the fucker bearable, something it most definetly isn't without a fan swap.

Thanks

On an unrelated note if I'm building my supergun w/o an audio attenuation circuit, then would mouting a 8 ohm speaker to the top of my gun be a problem?

Thanks

I talk a bit about it there. If you have the Capcom security bolt on your A board then it's troublesome. Once you get the case open, the new fan drops in with ease.

Your second question, yes, an 8ohm speaker would be perfect.

Where can I get one of these Capcom security bits? Thinking of de-suiciding one of my B boards...

You mean the TORX screws? T-20 size TORX bit or driver is the one needed.

The Capcom security bolt driver is not for sale. In that case it's time to break out the power drill. I got lucky and had a lone A board w/o the Capcom bolt. I used that one for the fan swap.

Thanks for the info, oxtsu.

I have T bits handy, but I guess I'll have to buy one that I can sacrifice to make my own security bit :)

That A board of mine still has the original warranty seals on it, so that means it must have gone a long time without a battery swap and the possibility of it suiciding very soon always nags at the back of my mind...

np, iatneH.

For clarification, A board is mother, B is game (part with suicide battery).

Now that I look at it more closely, NO! That is the standard TORX w/o the security center hole. Thanks Valgar, for pointing out my mistake. On this page is the correct one:

http://www.action-electronics.com/ezpower.htm#Sectrx

#EZ-73254 (pair of T20 bits) or #VL-VTB5 (security bit set) look like the best choices.
The first part# (and maybe the second, difficult to tell) needs the 1/4in driver to go along with it . Cheap ones can be found at the local hardware or automotive shop. Or, part #EZ-79665 further up on that page will do.

Cool

Commonly known as fire alarm security bits after asking my father about the weird hole in the center. Should be able to pick up at any hardware giant.

Allow me to ask a stubid question. I have replaced the fan in the CSP2 A board with an ordinary PC fan. But I forgoten the direction of the fan, I mean whether the fan is pumping air out or pumping air in?

Could anyone tell me? :?
