Sony BVM 20G1U defective E board

Post by fandangos »

Hey all,

I have here 3 BVMs 20G1U, the 20 inches model.
All of those have some kind of problem that I can isolate as being the E board (power supply / deflection board).

One has a shaky picture.
One won't turn on and just blinks the power led.
One has a really ultra bright and weird color picture.

The thing is I have 4! working 14 inches E board of the same monitor.

According to this service manual there are a few differences between both boards.

https://dcemulation.org/~darc/SonyBVM14G1A.pdf

The 20 inches has 3 other ICs, some resistors and diodes.

When using the 14 inches board with the 20 inches model, horizontal size is ok but even settings vertical size to the max, it won't open the entire screen.
My question, and maybe someone here knows it.
Is it possible to convert this board to the 20 inches model in an easy way? Those ICs are impossible to find.

or is it possible by some menu magic to make the 14 inches model work with the 20 inches model?
Any information on this is really appreciated.
