Capturing JAMMA video and audio from New Astro City

Post by pegboy »

Any advice for capturing audio off a JAMMA board running in my cab? It looks like a need a line-out converter to convert the audio level to a pre-amp level (I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/PAC-SNI-35-Varia ... B001EAWS3W) is needed? This one seems pretty straight forward to hook up. Just attach speaker+ and speaker- (it says ground is optional?) and plug in some RCA cables. I'm capturing using a Framemeister and El Gato.

I also read another thread that recommended one of these: https://www.amazon.com/ART-ZDirect-Prof ... ics&sr=8-1). This one seems a lot more cumbersome to hook up and I'm not exactly sure how to do it. Looks like it's used for hooking up instruments to a mixer or something.

Anyway, I just wanted to see if anyone had some experience with this, I'd rather not hook anything up and blow up $1000 PCBs.

There's a cool device called "NAC Splitfire", more details here - https://www.arcade-projects.com/forums/ ... -solution/

The Splitfire isn't really something you can just go somewhere and purchase though. There's a few people that have them, and there's a waiting/interest list (possibly multiple!). I haven't seen any indication he's started doing a sizable production run yet. Unless he's just been silently chewing through the waitlist.

There's also the Echo Chan - http://segv.moe

I'm on the waitlist for the NAC Splitfire but I'd like to get something sooner than later, as I have no idea how long it will take for that to come out. I do have the ability to capture using the HAS but that doesn't help me with capturing runs off the cabinet.

Also I don't believe the Echo CHAN is being made anymore? I also recall not hearing great things about it but I have not seen it in action to say for sure.

We're working on it - in the last few days there have been some efforts to figure out scaling logistics so this isn't such an arduous process for everyone. We're hoping to submit another order to have a big pile more fabricated very soon (within the scale of a few days).

I have extremely slowly chewed through it, and the last batch is almost completely dried up. Hence, efforts to speed up doing a second batch.
