Advice on a HDMI splitter for Switch

Post by evil_ash_xero »

I have a J-Tech splitter, that works fine for my PS4, but I don't get any picture from my Switch.

Anyone have a splitter that they use with their Switch? I'd like to know that it works, for sure.

I'm using this device successfully for my 360, Chromecast, and Switch:

Thanks for the replies. The IBIT is more of a switch. So, it's bigger than I was wanting.
The other one is more in the territory I am looking for. One input, two outputs.

Any other ones, with more reviews? I'd like to have a few options, before picking.

Despite being shamed for making to many posts, I'm gonna update this one.

I'm still looking for a few more options. Just something that def works with the Switch, and has some more reviews. That would be helpful.
I'm really surprised my J-Tech doesn't work with it. Their stuff works really well, most of the time. Then again, this is Nintendo.

I currently have this one as part of my daisy-chain setup. Have used this brand repeatedly for years. Absolutely fantastic in my opinion.

These will come in handy for other things. So, thanks for the recommendations.

But I am looking for a SPLITTER. Not a switch.

I just ordered the ViewHD splitter. I'll let you know how it goes.

The device works well, so thanks for the recommend.

That being said, the Switch is still and irritating little machine. I'm hooking one of these HDMI cables into a PC monitor, that has no audio out. So, I'm using a HDMI audio extractor. On the menu, sometimes when you try to pick and choose between games, you'll get a sound, or you may not.
I looked into this, and there is no fix, unless your monitor/TV has some kind of audio choices, which mine does not. But it's fine, because it does not affect anything in-game.
But seriously, Nintendo... I'll leave it there.

You've got a garden variety EDID data problem that you'll encounter any time you have a splitter going to multiple video sinks (displays, capture cards, etc) with different feature sets. The source will enable/disable various featues like audio channel layout and resolutions based on this EDID data. To get around this you'll need an EDID emulator as either a standalone box or included in a switch/splitter (nicer matrix switches frequently have this built-in). Using EDID emulation to make the Switch think it's connected to a 1080p Full-HD display with 2.0 stereo audio should make the Switch happy.
