How I can enter the setupmenu at the mushihime sama PCB?

Post by eckart »

Today the PCB arrived and I am realy happy with the game. - But I can`t manage to get into the setupmenu. The scores are not saved, so I wanted to enter and set this function on.
After I press the little switch, nothing happend only the small lamp/ diode is on for a while.

Also to see the bootseqence and at the beginning makes me wonder. Is this the normalcase.- And no " presented by cave" voice over the cavelogo?

Hope someone could help me.

You should have a "service" swtich on your cabinet (not the PCB) that will let you enter the PCB's settings menu. Press/hold this button until the menu comes up. And it just sounds like demo mode is off if you don't hear the voice over the logo.

Thanks Dave. - You helped me! I didn`t know that I must hold the button for a while.

I didn`t find anything about a safeoption in the setup. When I start, the 5th place on maniac has the score 40 mio. - But if I end a game with 17 mio I am able to enter my name!?- So I will try to come over 40 mio and hope that this score will safed.- Otherwise I wil buy a new battery.

When I put the cab on, the titlescren displayed a bit distored. After that, the bootsqeunces starts. Anybody know if this is correct?

It seems that there is no "presented by cave" voice on mushihime. Or is it only my pcb? Demosound is on.

That might be because the game has 5 "today's scores" (which are not saved when the thing is turned off) and 5 "overall" high scores (which are saved)...at least that's the way the home port has it set up, I've never played the arcade version.

How do you enter the setup menu if you don't have a cab? ESPGaluda II is the same hardware, and I want to see if I can offset the picture a little.

Your supergun should have a Test Menu button. If not, the PCB should have one too. I don't know if you'll be able to offset the picture though. I think I only have 1 PCB that lets me do that.

I'll have to check on my gun. I read something on the instructions about perhaps messing w/ the screen, but not sure. The description is vague at best, so just wanted to make sure.

GaijinPunch, do you have a bootsequence at the beginning at your espgaluda2 PCB.- And a "presented by cave" voice over the logo?- Hope you can tell me.

You must hold the test button 2-3 seconds, then you come to the test menue.- But fur mushihime sama I din`t find a screenflipsettimg there.

Yes, there's a boot sequence on ESPGaluda II -- quite a long one too. It boots, then goes to the Today's scores, then the Cave splash scene (with no audio), then the AMI splash screen.

There is no test/service button anywhere on my Supergun that I can find. Definitely not on the controller, as I checked the pinout, and there's really nothing on the gun either. :?:

Thanks for the info. Now I guess my PCB is ok. :)

Anyway, a pitty for me that cave left thoose voices. A little but smart gimmik. Can`t believe it. :(
Hope that changes again. But if it miss on the espgaluda 2 PCB, than I guess it miss on ibara, too.

-But, time to score over 20 mio by this awesome game, to check if my pcb safe it.

Then there should be one on the PCB itself. Take a pic and we can help, or someone else who owns one might know.

I asked Joey from excellent about this problem and he send it foward to his supplier. That is the answer:

Regarding the battery on the PCB, That is for timer back up .
There is not a system of the saving highscore. Espgaluda II is installed
saving highscore till 5th highscore. Not for mushihimesama. If your customer
would like to keep highscore, he can not power off .

Del should know. He has been playing Mushi at the Casino arcade in London for months, and his scores stay. I doubt they leave all the machines on 24x7.

Are you sure you are not just looking at "todays" highscore table v.s. the overall highscore table?

Yeah, I am sure that this is not the todays list.

- If this is right what you said, than this pcb is damaged. But I didn`t understand the mail from Joey`s supplier. I mean, he has to know it for sure.

Why would they bother having two sets of scores if you can't save one? Today's is specifically the score in there from the last power down. That's just...fucked up. I'll ask on 2ch, as I'm intrigued.

link
#608 in case you're interested.

EDIT: Doesn't Icarus own this PCB? You could PM him and ask.

The only Cave PCBs that are left in my collection are Ibara and Guwange, so I am not entirely knowledgeable about Cave's new hardware. I do know that there is a bug in the PCB version's high score saving that transfers all the saved Maniac Mode scores over to the Ultra Mode table when you power off, so that might be it.

Try playing Original and Ultra first to see if the scores save after power off. If they do, then your PCB will be fine (besides the bug ^_-)

There was a reply on 2ch -- they said the same thing Icarus said basically, However, I believe it's fixed if you enter the code to eliminate ULTRA mode, after inserting a credit.

Insert credit, then enter this:
ULBRAUUAAB

That eliminates Ultra mode, and hopefully the bug (until you power down).

It's a controller command, you use the joystick and fire buttons to input the code. Like the Konami code of old.
You know, UP, LEFT, BUTTON B, RIGHT etc etc ^_-

Mushi pcb.

I am having problems with saving my high scores too...
I get a high score, it lets you enter your name and then a code screen ie internet ranking I presume about 20 letters/numbers come up and a timer counts down to allow you to copy this number..

Then when I look at the high score screen my name is not on there even though the bottom score is 1,000,000..and I get higher than that just !!
I get over that score but it does not display it.. this is on normal I have not tried the other 2 modes yet..

Does anyone know how to reset the all time high scores as my pcb has come out of a HK arcade and I do not have a hope in hell of ever getting on that score board..

Yes, Ibara saves the scores. I had to initialise the high score saving feature in the Service Mode first before it did.

Use the test or service button on your cab/supergun to access the Service Mode, then enter Configuration, and select the Initialise HS Saving feature. Or switch off the option, save and power off the PCB, then switch on the PCB and reinitialise the option in the Service Menu. Either way, you need to get the PCB to wipe the save data from the Service Menu.

In the test menu the only point that belongs to highscore safeing is "backup data" . This listed,

1. Date setup
2. Ranking Display
3. Exit

Yes that is what I see too, when you choose ranking display option it just shows the current best high scores but no way of resetting them..

Mushi definitely has an option to save scores in the test menu. IIRC Mushi and Ibara needed this turning on, E2 has it on already.
