Need advice on adding component inputs Sony Trinitron

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had tried adding component inputs to consumer TV's before. I have a Sony Trinitron KV-27V40 that appears to have a set of unused YUV inputs on the jungle IC. They appear to go to a PiP board for a higher end model TV. I am going to try to see if I can use these as component inputs. The only problem I foresee is the datasheet for the jungle IC says that the Y channel must not have sync in it, so that means I will need to make a circuit that can remove sync from Y before I can send it to the jungle IC. Either that, or since I just got done with RGB modding this set, should I just get a decent component ->RGBs transcoder? Thanks in advance!
