MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
Does anyone know if the MVS MV-1F motherboard outputs audio in stereo via the JAMMA edge or only via the dedicated speaker and headphone outputs?

It most certainly does output amplified stereo audio over the jamma edge. There's a switch that let's you select between mono or stereo output.
Stereo is output on pins 10 and L with a common ground.
That hard MVS site is totally incorrect, on lots of things actually.

Thanks for that manual. It indicates in several places that stereo output must be done via the 4-pin connector and not via the JAMMA edge. Frank_fjs, have you tested it?

Of course I've tested it!
I've been enjoying stereo audio via jamma on my MVS for over 10 years now.

Crazy. You're sure you have a MVS MV-1F? That manual clearly indicates it should not work. I'll hit the test button and try the Sound Test when I get home. Please try yours if you get a chance. It lets you test the left and right channels separately.

100% positive. I absolutely guarantee it.
Manual is incorrect, simple as that.
Test screen audio test confirms.
There a few MVS boards with native stereo sound over the jamma edge. It's nothing new and quite well known.

That is really strange. My 1F plays the left and right sound tests out of both speakers and the stereo switch is on. Could there be multiple versions?

Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
The Jamma pinout has 10(L) and 11(R) as the speaker positive and the L as the ground, that's a neat trick SNK. Wish they did it for the MV-1FZ, it has a stereo amp on board and does much the same as the MV-1F, one day I'll get it running
Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
You need to wire it up accordingly.
I'm guessing you're running it via standard jamma wiring.
I mentioned this a few posts above...
Pin 10 is R+
Pin L is L+
Common ground

So I would need a custom harness between the motherboard and supergun to get stereo?
Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
I make superguns with this feature already incorporated.
Which supergun do you have?

Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
This is my supergun. Note the audio selector switch. There's also a 3.5mm audio jack one can use to feed in line level stereo (from CPS2 for example) which will output over the scart cable.

Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
Sadly, I don't follow. Can I do this with the HAS without soldering?
Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
HAS V3.2 is suitable only for true JAMMA (mono), not MVS JAMMA (it will work with MVS JAMMA, but you won't get stereo audio). However, there's a place for the header on the HAS that allows you to grab signal from the JAMMA pin #10 (speaker left "+"). Decision to use the mono only configuration was because there's not even a handful of games that output stereo only via the JAMMA edge. Most PCBs capable of outputting stereo audio have their own headers, RCAs or 3.5mm jack connectors.shmupsrocks wrote:Sadly, I don't follow. Can I do this with the HAS without soldering?
Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
It's worth incorporating it just for MVS alone RGB, games sound amazing in Stereo, huge difference.
Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
How do you set up the HAS to get stereo out of the MVS exactly?
Re: MVS MV-1F motherboard: stereo via JAMMA?
Tap stereo audio from the 3.5mm jack on the MVS if it has one (all multi cart versions have it) or use an adapter. The upcoming HAS V3.3 will have a solution for this. Just remember that not every MVS board outputs stereo audio.
