I've been stuck on composite video but some new gear should be arriving pretty soon to fix that. In the meantime a couple of my boards have weird video issues and I'm not sure if they could be due to the composite connection. UN Squadron has big vertical bands of a darker color that move slowly across a few big sprites and Strikers 1945 is way too bright and washed out even with the brightness on my Hakuryu turned all the way down. I have a Gunbirds 2 board that physically looks almost identical to Strikers but no brightness issue. Could composite be to blame for these issues?
As ugly as composite is it's nice to have the input on my LCD so I'm not shmup-free right now.
Composite video ugliness
Re: Composite video ugliness
Hard to say without knowing what kind of supergun or encoder you're using.
But I'd presume few arcade boards were in any way designed anticipating composite video.

My supergun is a Sigma Hakuryu and it has a built-in encoder.
