So I ordered an Extron SMX Matrix Switcher on Ebay that I wanted to use for multiple reasons but mainly for the digital options like HDMI and DVI. It wasn't packaged the best and I'm guessing the shippers who handled it might have tossed it and it landed on it's corner where the styrofoam might have shifted and didn't protect it.
It caused damage on the corner right next to where you would plug it in for power. My concern is it could have been more then cosmetic but also affected the power supply and I don't want to it to be a fire hazard.
Now I'd simply return it and buy another but I got a pretty good price and the specific model of the SMX series is rather uncommon to come across and would hate to wait several months on. So I'm considering and opening it up and to try and see if anything may have been damaged but that could be a several hour job with how many screws I hear this thing has and testing it. If I go this route what should I look for to see if something was damaged?
