I'd been participating in the comments on Ars Technica's article about the PlayStation Classic, when another user told me he was getting YPbPr from an original PlayStation using this cable made by Classic Games Revisited. Unfortunately, that product page doesn't provide any details beyond "Brand new, factory sealed.".
At first glance, it looks like a straight cable, but I suspect there's a colorspace converter embedded in [what looks like] the hard plastic where the leads break out; kind of like an HD Retrovision cable, but without the box, and a PlayStation connector instead of a Genesis DIN.
Is anyone familiar with this cable, or how well it actually works? If it works well, then that would make it a more-readily-available alternative to HD Retrovision's Genesis cable and PlayStation adapter at about a quarter of the price.
PS1 YPbPr cable
Re: PS1 YPbPr cable
my bet is that it's a straight component cable for use on PS2 and PS3 systems and just wrongly listed as a PS1 cable.
