CRT TV 100Hz Scanlines and 240p games
Hello,
Is there a way to add scanlines on a Sony Trinitron TV 100Hz with consoles like Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo or any 240p consoles game?
Apparently this TV upsacle any 240p source in 480i, true ?
I give a try with "retroarch crt switch" and 15Khz modelines on Ubuntu and flickers shaders or Black Frame Insertion, I can see scanlines and a very beautiful screen, but it's just unplayable and give headache in few minutes with visible flicker.
I don't know if hardware box like Frameister,OSSC,Retrotink, anothers box or softwares could help me, I just want to see scanlines on this TV like a analog Sony Trinitron 60HZ.
Is it possible, Is there a way with hardware or software, or this TV is just a "garbage" for 240P old games ?
Thanks you.

An OSSC would probably help. Enable at least line2x for 240p content (to get around the 240p->480i conversion in your TV), turn on scanlines, and tweak to your preference.
A RetroTINK 2X would be cheaper and help you get around the 240p->480i conversion as well, but it doesn't have a scanline generator, and I'm not sure if the scanlines on 480p content would look correct to you.

Hi,
Thanks for the answer but the OSSC does not have scart outpout just an HDMI, and my CRT TV does not have HDMI just Scart.
A Kenzei that I own, could convert the signal using an HDMI To VGA Box
OSSC=>HDMI to VGA=>Kenzei=>Scart Input CRT TV ?

A modded GBS has a nice VGA scan line feature. Should work great for you.

scorpius.milo, you're in Europe I assume ?
The European Sony 100Hz TVs did not have any direct any 31khz input, nor did they have component or anything else than standard Scart (with RGB).
100Hz also didn't linedouble 15khz sources (like the American HDTV CRT sets often did), but you get framedoubling, so basically a 576i50 input would be turned into a 576i100 signal (hence the name "100Hz CRT").
I don't see any way to enhance your 240p experience on a set like this.

My only way is look for a 60Hz Trinitron or a Tv like that (60hz) ?
Thanks
(My TV is a Sony KV-29CS60B)

Is this TV good for Dreamcast, Gamecube or console like that?Fudoh wrote:yes, pretty sure about that.My only way is look for a 60Hz Trinitron or a Tv like that (60hz) ?
Re: CRT TV 100Hz Scanlines and 240p games
No, not really, since these can output 480p on their own, so it's best to use a monitor that can accept this.

Thanks,
So 100Hz CRT TV are definitively bad for gaming

Re: CRT TV 100Hz Scanlines and 240p games
There are some that have a 31khz input available (like Loewe, some later Panasonic ones etc). Those are great for 480p input. But in Europe Sony didn't offer anything like this except for the very late FD series Trinitrons (which offered VGA).
