CRT Monitor Overly Bright/Overblown Whites

Hi all,

So I've setup a GroovyMAME (Linux) setup in my Dino King Cabinet; monitor: SANWA14VC21S. I had a bit of a nightmare getting a decent picture with a JPAC, anway I finally got a fantastic picture ignoring the JAMMA side of things in regard to video and going straight from the monitor R,G,B,Sync x 2 and Video Ground to an Ultimarc Video AMP to the Radeon GPU. However I have massively bright whites that can't be fixed with the hardware pots - brightness, R,G,B and overall brightness. I tried a number of Radeon cards and the same issue persists. I then tried everything form 75 ohm resistors to 1k ohm resistors on the RGB lines and nothing takes the whites down. I can alter the image in Groovymame with the slider controls so it looks perfect, but there must be a hardware solution for this, surely?

Is there a contrast setting and did you try turning it down?
