NEC XM2950 Remote?

Post by Dragon89o »

Hey, so I need to get my hands on the remote for this monitor does anyone know where I can buy one or if there are other solutions?

The model used for this CRT seems to be the RD-335E. I can't seem to find the remote online but I found two other possible solutions but I want to know if anyone has tested them.
I found this third part remote claiming it works and has all the fuctions.

Then I also found this

Someone said it ended up working for their XM37 model and I was curious if anyone has used it on the XM29.

The one in the second link indeed ended up working on the XM37 Plus (everything but the power button. which is weird). But I can't say for sure if it'll work on your set

Oh, also do you know if I can just use a generic power cord for the NEC monitors? Or is there some spec I should be aware of?

I was using the one that came with my unit.

I don't want to misguide you, but I think using the good old standard 3 prong cable that is graded to pass 125V 10A is fine. But please double check on that!

Suggestions on where I would look to see if it's okay. Would I just look up the manual?

If you can boil water with it, it is more than capable of running a monitor.

Haha, so pretty much it's not a big deal? I'll be pretty safe which ever cord I go with? Could I maybe use one to a 15 year old dell computer?

15 years old DELL? No, this wont work!
I would recommend Fujitsu Siemens, HP or Acer 5-10 years old only.

most of those PC style 3 prong power cords are the same, just look at it to make sure it's at least 18AWG (or .824mm^2 diameter) conductor - should be printed on the jacket

Sounds good I'll look for that tomorrow. Any ideas on the remote though? I ordered the RD-354E which isn't the right model but I'm hoping it works. The layout is identical.
