Little Known PVM - TVLogic DBM-150HD - Need Help!

Post by dakattack »

I recently picked up a very interesting and seemingly obscure professional CRT called the TVLogic DBM-150HD. Before I bought it, I could find very little information on it, so I took a risk on it. But man did that risk pay off. This is a 15 inch mutiformat, 800 TV line CRT. Supports everything from 240p to 1080i and even PAL in between :) S-Video from my modded snes mini looks great on it. I finally got everything I need to use its RGB capabilities. The problem is external sync just won't work! The screen stops displaying any picture from the console when I press the ext sync button. My set up is console > scart cable > gscart switch > BNC breakout > monitor. I can confirm that the breakout cables are working, because all of the colors are correct with sync turned off and I have tried plugging sync into the 'G' socket and that worked. This monitor seems to be made as direct substitute to (read: copy of) a PVM. If anyone has ever had this problem or has any idea how to solve it let me know. If you have any experience in solving issues with PVMs, you probably have more experience than me. I will try anything to get this up and running. Thanks.

Here are some pictures that can quickly explain what I cannot https://imgur.com/a/wdNwu

EDIT: Also I have the manual for this monitor uploaded to my google drive here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0T3uI ... sp=sharing

If it helps, I also have a copy of the service manual that I am more wary to share publicly given that it says "confidential" all over it.

my best guess: your BNC breakout cable is wired for the wrong direction.

If you're using a cable with MALE scart on one end (from the switch), like likely wired for BNC to Scart, not the other way around. You can check by opening the scart header and confirm to which scart pin the sync line is connected.

EDIT: disregard, I replied before seeing your pics. Some PVMs require a clean sync signal on the ext. sync input. Are you using an original Gscartsw or the Lite version with sync processor ?

I'm using the lite version. I've tried putting the gscart switch in both the CS and off positions. It doesn't affect this problem :(
