2 Buttons Control Scheme --> 3 Buttons Control Scheme

Post by SAM »

Just occur to my mind, I have thought of some uses of the 2-ways microswitch comes with the Sanwa OBS-30A button.

Some members here it as they found it more 'clicky'. But I had found some more uses for it.

For those who might not know already, the microswitch I am talking about got three pins. One of them is ground, and for the reminding two: one is ON as normal when the button is pressed; the other is ON when the button is NOT pressed.

Use (1) Auto Fire
(Not very useful IMO)
If you got an Auto Fire circult, you could revise the connection so that it stop firing when you press the button.

(2) 2 Buttons Control --> 3 Buttons Control
(Useful)
In some games you got 2 buttons:

Press A perform Action 1
Press B perform Action 2
Press A+B perform Action 3
(e.g. 1943, KiKiKaiKai, etc)

Use Sanwa OBS-30A (the one with 2-ways microswitch) for button B, and wire button A via the 'hold' pin of button B. Then wire both Button A and B to Button C.

End Result:

Code: Select all

Actual Action A B Game Action
A is Pressed ON OFF A
B is Pressed OFF ON B
C is Pressed ON ON A+B
A+B is Pressed OFF ON B
A+C is Pressed ON ON A+B
B+C is Pressed ON ON A+B
A+B+C is Pressed ON ON A+B
How's that? :D You turn it into a 3 buttons control now. 8)

No more mistaken loop when bombing the enemy ships in 1943. :D
*Meow* I am as serious as a cat could possible be. *Meow*

Clever idea...but honestly I think it's a fruitless effort (assuming it would even work in the way described). Two reasons: the OBS-30A buttons exhibit the response of grandma's Cadillac (i.e., slow+heavy), and pressing one button is better than pressing two for the same function.
