What kind of output does it use?

What price point are you aiming for?

Will it support a language switch?
Because certain games not only have different languages but also different content.

Examples:

Ristar GG's Japanese mode has level 2-1 which the international version skips.
Batman Returns GG's Japanese mode has a code to unlock sound test
Pop Breaker. - a notable GG exclusive which only works in Japanese mode.

Price TBA soon.
It will be a limited run.
It has RGBS output through scart cable.
Language switch can be added, it's an easy mod. This GG board is japanese version. The ones we will be using also will be japanese ones.

What's the resolution and aspect ratio output? I noticed in the video that it has alot of black bars on all sides (kind of like how the PSP or how the IS Nitro-Capture do it).

Does it use actual hardware or is it relying on some sort of emulation?

The native output is 160x144 so it's really small compared to Master System's 256x192 and I'm guessing it's real boards as they are using Japanese ones so not a FPGA-based clone console as far as I know.

I'm intrigued! I was recently thinking of getting one of the RGB-out mods, but a consolized GG is tempting.

Wondering about the aspect ratio myself. It looks too wide in the video. Hard to tell if that's just the mode the TV is in. I also see some junk pixels at the bottom.

The entire border turns red briefly at 52 seconds. Is that intentional?

Yes, that is intentional.

Here's Sonic Drift with a blue border.

TV is in 16:9 mode. It's using an original Sega GG mainboard with Tim's GGTV board. So the picture is crystal clear...
Also the following mod was done too. So the image is larger than normal.
Taken from
http://etim.net.au/ggtv/ggtv.htm

"When playing Sega Master System games (with a cartridge adapter) the Game Gear compresses the video signal to make it fit into the internal LCD screen. This compressed video is not compatible with this output board. The compression can be disabled by connecting point T10 to +5v (logic high). In this state, the video will no longer display on the internal LCD screen but a good, full screen picture will output from the board. A switch or pin on the video connector can be used to select whether SMS games render properly on the internal screen or video output. Game Gear games will have a large border (see picture below) and this is unchanged by the state of T10."

Looks great! Though I'm not a game gear fan myself.

But if you ever get a consolized Neo Geo Pocket Color going, I'd be all over it!

Where would these be sold at? On the beharbros website?

Indeed it does, Game Gear aspect ratio is 10:9, so it's supposed to be closer to 4:3 and 3:2 than 16:9, as a matter of fact if you increase the size a little from 160x144 by x2, you get 320x288! The exact same resolution as PAL PS1 games, so this should look very nice on a 4:3 CRT in fullscreen!

"stocking up" meaning it's "in stock"? I don't see it on the website.

It will be up as preorder soon on beharbros website. "It will cost $290 including a high quality Scart cable, AC adapter and airmail shipping."
He said it will be a limited run. It will play every game gear software as it has inside a naked GG basically. It can also play master system games using a GG everdrive (2 players support too!)

if you are talking about the psu, i think it will be100v-240v, so no need for a stepdown. if you wanted to know about game software, the game gear is region free

The Game Gear is 99% region free, not 100%.
There's a certain game called Pop Breaker which only runs if the system is set to Japanese mode.
Fortunately, the Consolised Game Gear done by beharbros.com is Japanese. I currently don't know any Western developed games that will only run if the system is set to non-Japanese.
