Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
ok ! I will search for the cable !
For the PS3, i will try many settings.
I watched star wars yesterday in LD, it was fantastic image ! But during the star scenes (like the background of this web site ), the stars are flashing/glittering, maybe cause by interlacing ?
Do you know a trick for this ?

ok, also blackscreen for my Wii U.
Then yes, black screen for all input in 1080i or p.
Do you have any idea ? maybe my TV settings ?

Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
what does the LED of the VP50 say when you connect these sources ? The color should indicate wether the units syncs to the input signal or not.

Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
when I start the PS3, the LED is turning green, then blue, and stay blue.
Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
steady blue means that signal should be alright. Do you get the VP50's menu or nothing at all ?
If you get nothing at all, it's a problem between the VP50 and the TV. Did you try other outputs timings ? Just for a moment you could test 720p out instead.

Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
yes... nothing at alll. What is output timing ? How should I change them ?
Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
output timings defines the output resolution, refresh rate etc.
I would first unlock the output refresh rate to see if it's a sync lock problem. It sounds a bit complicated when you're not used to it, but it will start make sense at some point. Instead of unlocking the output refresh rate you can also try to disable the cadence detection on the input. This is advisable anyway for gaming. Always check the delay the processor introduces (check the minimum setting the audio delay slider allows).
Shimmering stars in Star Wars: if you got a solid source you should try to use forced 3:2 pulldown instead of automatic or video deinterlacing.

How long did you give it to display? My VP30 is a tad finnicky about passing 1080i/p signals and it almost always takes a while before anything will display.

Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
OK !!! after many many hours of setting trying (my wife is mad at me^^), I found all the solutions for my problems :
720p and 1080p accepted only with cadence detect off.
1080i accepted only with deinterlacing : field scale.
I had to select settings for all my devices inside the console menu, for each devices and each resolution !
Now all is perfect !
Yesterday I had a lip sync problem with The return of the Jedi. Maybe because the sound is directly connected to my amp ? Should I connect first the sound to the VP50, then to my amp ?
for more performance, should I ON the PreP option for 1080p sources ?

Re: deinterlacing 480i for LD player
if your amp has a lip sync delay you can use that. If you run the audio signal through the VP50 as well, it gets delayed same as the video, so you're good to go. If you need to additionally compensate for delay on your display you can adjust the audio delay slider to do that.Maybe because the sound is directly connected to my amp ? no. PreP in general is not a good idea. Especially not for gaming. It turns your 1080p signal into a 1080i one internally to run it through the deinterlacer again.for more performance, should I ON the PreP option for 1080p sources ?

sync polarity. Only applies to the analogue BNC output.V+ /V- ?
basically the same as unlocking the output refresh rate.VCR mode ?
