Not sure this thread actually mentions what seems to be now one the best accepted solution : replacing a couple of 100 nF surface mount caps by 4.7 uF ones.

The explanation by viletim on this page, as well as how to fix it on some PCE models :
http://etim.net.au/av-driver/pcebars/

Some useful cap maps for more models on the Console5 wiki :
https://console5.com/wiki/Hu6260#Jailba ... al_Bar_Fix

I'm going to try the fix on my SuperGrafx.
I can see the banding best in Battle Ace, both on my small Trinitron and via the OSSC, just at the start of the first level, when there's a white flash, that then turns into a blue sky.

By the way, the link given by Artemio below is now dead, can someone re-upload it somewhere ?

Hey there guys, I wanted to see if any of you could help me.

I recently installed Tim´s AV Driver in my IFU30 Interface unit and on my Sony Trinitron CRT TV it looks great, but when I pass it through my framemeister these horrible jailbars appear. Nevertheless, Tim´s AV Driver came with the necessary 4.7 uF ceramic capacitors, so I have replaced capacitors C135 and C133 with the 4.7 uF replacement inside the PC Engine console, but the jailbars when used with the Framemeister are still there.

Then I changed the +5V power from the C 21 expansion slot on the IFU30 to the AV Driver to from the 7805 linear voltage regulator to the AV Driver and guess what? It made the jailbars worse!

I had a similar experience with my N64RGB (Tim´s RGB mod for the N64). It had the same exact issue, on the CRT the games looked great, but if I try the same video signal with the framemeister mini, jailbars would appear. It took some time before they figured out it was a grounding issue.

Maybe the same thing happens with my PC engine mod?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

Truth is I've had mixed results with the AV driver. At this point I would only install it in a TG16 (because it has the audio amp) but overall it's very sensitive to picking up and amplifying noise in the system.

A THS7374 or THS7314 based amp (like what you'd put into a turbo duo) would look much nicer but will have low volume.

Pick your poison with tg16.
