BEST NEO GEO 1 SLOT MOTHERBOARD ??
Hey guys, I just wanted to get your thoughts on which neo geo one slot motherboard you think is the best..... I have the MV-1AX and while it works great it does sometimes give me an issue when I play metal slug 4, which is the newest game I own. I was thinking about getting the MV-1C because It was the last SNK motherboard made. What do you guys think ??

The MV-1F seems pretty standard as the one-slot to have.
It's got two sets of stereo outputs, one of which is amped & the other of which is line level. The board itself is fairly spread out, so the parts are easy to get to if they need servicing. I've heard the cartridge connector can be kind of a pain, but I've never had any issues that rubbing alcohol couldn't solve.
Not really sure what else you could ask for in a Neo Geo, I know the pinouts for some of the later models are modified to include stereo or something, but the MV-1F is nicer to have in a supergun because it uses JAMMA standard.
Just take a look around, have a browse through some manuals on HardMVS, can't really go wrong with a Neo Geo purchase.

The nice thing about the MV-1F is the ability to connect neo-geo compatible controllers to it if you're looking for a supergun option.
Arcade Otaku has an abundant information on their wiki pages of the neo geo mobos, which shows the specs of every one of them.

I like the MV-1FZ, which has a socketed Bios chip making a Unibios upgrade a lot easier.

I have had a MV-1C for about 8 years, and just two weeks ago I installed Unibios with a NeoBiosMasta. Super genius invention, so don't let a soldered BIOS stop you from considering a MV-1B or MV-1C. That said, if I were to get a new motherboard these days, I think I would try going for a MV-1FZ.Crafty+Mech wrote:I like the MV-1FZ, which has a socketed Bios chip making a Unibios upgrade a lot easier.
Personally I prefer the boards with the smallest footprints. Built-in controller ports are kind of useless to me since if I'm going to need a box for power and A/V options in a supergun, I might as well put controller ports there too and just keep an overall smaller form factor.
edit: Here's my supergunned MV-1C, screwed down to the case with M3x10mm standoffs under the cartridge slots. Nothing permanently altered to the motherboard other than the NeoBIOSMasta.

Yes i do see what you are talking about but that board is HUGE !! i have very little space left in my crowded "SEGA BLAST CITY" candy cab that is why i was looking to go with one of the smaller models.Richtr8 wrote:The MV-1F seems pretty standard as the one-slot to have.

1F does not have memory card support though
it will have to be added on DIY if you want it
if you dont care about memory card 1FZ is pretty hard to beat
