Help please. Ibara no sound.

Post by Kiel »

It just arrived today and I cant seem to get any sound out of it. I'm using a supergun the volume thing on the board itself is turned to max and yes the sound on my TV is working as I tried all my other boards and they worked no problem. I'm hoping that it could be something else besides the board being bad. any ideas?

I haven't tried it out on a supergun, however I think the forum member Icarus has.

D-Lite, who made my supergun thinks it is the attenuation circuit on the audio which is causing the problem. We shall see I guess, I hope that is the case.

Its not broken, the circuit (he thinks) just is preventing the audio from going through on this particular board. It works will all my other PCBs.

It may be the pcb. My supergun plays every cave pcb fine with sound. Today my Ibara pcb started acting funny. After about 5 minutes of playing the sound completely cuts out. Today is the first day this has ever happened. If I turn the supergun off then on quickly, the sound won't come back. If I turn off the supergun for a few minutes the sound will come back for a few levels in Ibara, then die completely.

I have no idea why the pcb is acting this way. :(

check to see if any parts on the ibara pcb or in the supergun are warm/hot when the sound goes out?

Sound problem had happened on Ibara in the local acrade when the game was first installed. They fixed it soon after. :o

I remember seeing the details at the following shmups games forum...

http://www.hk-stg.net

but it is downed at the moment (the moment I post this message), so I cannot check it out for you. :?

The HK-STG is back up. Any chance you can find out what they did to fix Ibara?

Nothing seems even warm on the pcb. I will play the game for a few minutes, then the sound dies. If I leave the supergun off for 30 min, I can turn the game back on and have sound for a while. This is baffling. The only thing I can remember that may have caused this is all this started happening once I initialized ranking so I could save hi-scores. I have since turned that off, but it doesnt seem to help.

I am sorry, the post I was talking of is ...

鑄薔薇 的音聲.... (已修改)
(English Trans) Ibara's sound...(already been corrected)

But it turns out to be talking about what the girl boss said in the game.

I did seen the following post in another thread, but there is no follow up response to this post.

怪, 奇怪呢! 在video中聽的到背景音樂, 還要是挺清楚的, 為何在荃金那郤甚也聽不到?

And when I finally arrive at the 荃金 acrade to play Ibara, the background noise is so great that I cannot notice if there is such problem.

I have read your initial post again, it seems that the PCB is working properly, since you got sound everytime you switch on. And the sound slowly disapears.

I think you should take a careful look in the Ibara's install instruction, I think the sound out pins config might be a little unconventional. (The conventional setting use Pin J and 10 to give a mono audio)

If it is confirmed to be the sound pins out causing the problem to your supergun. The fix would be easy.

You should find a 28 pins plug and a 28 pins finguler board, you then wire all the pins from the plug to the fingulerboard, except for the sound pins.

For the sound pins, you either change them back to conventional pins layout for your supergun or just connect them to a PC speacker directly.
