GS Mode Selector 240p?
Can GS Mode Selector be used to force a 480i PS2 game into 240P?
on the GS Mode Selector screen I selected SD NTSC non interlaced, it basically cut the screen in half.
(Using tated PVM-2530 via RGB)
Also, I know a lot of PS2 shmup titles output at 240p when in tate mode, is that the case with Raiden 3?
I've done a some research, and it appears that hex editing and ppf patching was being used to force ps2 games into 240p if GSM won't do this is that the standard methiod?
thanks again,
Nyd

there is a link to the 240p patches halfway through. i'm using it with ibara and mushi and it works great. according to this topic raiden 3 should work too.
i wasn't able to achieve 240p with GSM / HD Xploder.

IIRC, you need GSM v.23 for 240p, that's what I use anyway.

But how are you achieving 240p via GSM?
Do you select SD NTSC from the GSM mode selector menu?
Also, is there a patch for raiden 3 or just those 2 cave games that don't support 240p in tate mode?
I use a tated PVM via RGB, do I even need to patch any other shmups for get 240p in tate mode IE: isn't raiden 3 already 240p while tate mode is selected like the other ps2 shmups?

Re: GS Mode Selector 240p?
The mode to select is "NTSC NI to NTSC I Field". I'm not sure if GSM revisions after v.23 support 240p.

I'll source out that version, thanks so much.
Not sure why future revisions of software would "remove" features but whatever.
Thanks,

Not trying to blow you off or anything but here's the official dev forum: http://psx-scene.com/forums/official-gs ... tor-forum/
I tried what I thought were 240p settings in a couple different revisions after .23 and was unsuccessful. GSM's goal is to force games into progressive hi-res.

Thanks, got this to work, It looks like Raiden III doesn't output at 240p when in tate mode.SGGG2 wrote:The mode to select is "NTSC NI to NTSC I Field". I'm not sure if GSM revisions after v.23 support 240p.

Re: GS Mode Selector 240p?
It will with ReKleSS' hack. Such patched ISO's run fine with HDLoader (and who knows maybe OPL).nyder wrote: Thanks, got this to work, It looks like Raiden III doesn't output at 240p when in tate mode.
I found 3D rendered 480i games to look a little funky in 240p. Especially the backgrounds in Raiden III. But the up close flicker is gone, and the bullets and ships look OK.

Re: GS Mode Selector 240p?
A new version of OPL was released yesterday with integrated GSM support.
"OpenPS2Loader-GSM 0.9.2.zip"
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/open-p ... 2-a-62141/
Changelog for v0.9.2:
Core:
Merged OPL/OPLGSM codebase
Unified Makefile builds from single source tree via "GSM=0/1" argument (ala VMC/No VMC)
The integrated LibFreeType was removed, upgraded, and moved into the PS2SDK
Upgraded LIBPNG, ATAD, HDPro, and DEV9 Module Code
Added code for the power-off RPC, for older games. They should be compatible now.
Added power-off processing code. Games should be able to power-off the console now.
Optimzed CDVDMAN and CDVDFSV
Support for PSX (DVR) units
Built-in TLB reinitialization mechanism - no more EECORE hooking and patching.
Added compatibility mode 7 - "IOP Threading Hack".
Replaced SMAP driver.
Modified SMSTCPIP.
Ported a version of ETH Mode types from doctorxyz's OPLGSM.
Retired the built-in kernel update for Protokernel consoles (SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000).
GUI:
New "Show GSM on Main Menu" toggle in "Settings" (GSM Builds Only)
New "GSM Settings" on Main Menu - easier navigation! (GSM Builds Only)
Fixed issue with HDLSERV and GSM Settings not showing up immediately.
Full Ethernet controls - can disable Auto-Negotiation and force a mode.
Some things were are worded differently as less words carry more freight.
Removed redundant UDMA modes - PS2 will never handle UDMA 5 and UDMA 6.
Updated SMB support to give better error messages.
Network error codes changed slightly - 300 for connection errors, 301 for logon errors, 302 for ECHO isalive test failing, and 303 for share opening errors.
