Crazy ass Mame/Guwange issue

Post by GaijinPunch »

My Guwange ROM only responds to UP on the direction pad. Left, right, and down don't work. Needless to say, that's not very good. Anyone know WTF is up w/ this? Dangun Feveron is the only other Cave rom I've got lying around, and it worked fine. Strange, indeed.

Love,
GP

There is no reinstalling... only unpacking. I somehow don't think that's going to work.

Delete all the files in the CFG folder. Then in game if you are still having troubles, hit tab and try to redine all the keys. Do not pause when doing this because sometimes the keys get messed up when you try to redefine them when paused.

Mame features (optional) saved custom control definitions for individual ROMs that override the global custom control definitions. Which is actually an extremely useful feature, since one control scheme rarely fits all.

In this case, you must have accidentally defined custom controls for Guwange without knowing it, that override the global ones.

do what the other guy said and just do the cfg folder though, so you don't lose your savestates.

Removing the Guwange config and restarting worked. Now for a new problem. only SOME games will display scanlines, despite the fact that I've got it set. Battle Bakraid & Guwange are two that won't display them. Smells like bullshit, eh?

If some games show scanlines bu not others, it's because yo uneed to bump up your resolution.

I think he meant lower the res...2d games look better in lower resolutions.

where's recap when you need him?

MAME's fake scanline effect requires the framebuffer be at least 2x the vertical resolution of the original game in order to work.

If you wanted real scanlines, then yeah, low-resolution modes are ideal.

Recap actually pops into my forums from time to time... just figured I"d ask here. I'll try lowering and see what happens. FOr what it's worth, it's only TATE games that don't do the scanline effect properly, so the above sounds accurate.
